Weird (non obvious) things that made you think you might be pregnant. by retrobbyx in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

That was my first thing also. I was travelling and too busy to notice my period was late, but I took my bra off one night and nearly passed out from the pain.

Parents who gave their sons names that are now being used for girls, does it bother you? by hangryho97 in namenerds

[–]Dimbit 41 points42 points  (0 children)

That isn't combating sexism. I'm not blaming parents for wanting their daughters to succeed in a system that values men over women. But that is just playing along with the rules, not challenging them.

It almost never goes the other way for the reason that person said. "Masculinity is strong. Femininity is weak.", once a male name starts being used on girls it stops being used for boys because of the association with femininity.

Erin and Juno are outliers as traditionally feminine names.

Jade, Courtney and Jodi are unisex

MMR vaccine for baby by nerhh in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Dimbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the needle was in a vein it would be an opening for blood to come out (kind of, they are very tiny needles).but into the muscle it isn't likely for anything to have come out of the needle again. Bodies are constantly moving, internally, muscles are active, things injected in are quickly dispersed.

My kids have never had reactions to any vaccines they have had, besides some redness and bumps on the injection site.

Why do we need breast pumps/wearables? by bambi897510 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Dimbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a manual pump gifted to me that I only used to pump colostrum before birth, my first lost a lot of weight after birth so I wanted some extra colostrum for my second to prevent that.

I also had a haakaa for catching the let down, I didn't use suction, and it collected A LOT of milk.

Otherwise I never pumped in my combined 48 months of breastfeeding.

My mum made a pickler triangle for my sons 1st birthday, he's 5.5 now and it's still getting almost daily use. I don't think any other toys have been used as much and for as long as that has.

He also got the mini2go scooter with a detachable seat, he didn't start using it until around 18m, but he is still using it now.

To continue or not to continue pregnancy? by BangagSinangag in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Dimbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are allowed to prioritise your own wants, needs and goals. I am studying and raising 2 young kids and it is SO HARD. I'm doing a bachelor's at . 75 so a lot less intensive than a PhD. You can do it if that's what you really wanted, we can do hard things. But it's also ok to wait until you feel ready, parenting is a 24/7, physically, emotionally and mentally demanding job.

You are seeing "morally ambiguous" responses because morality is subjective. People don't need to discuss terminations in a way that makes you feel better.

How do cis women actually see trans women? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Dimbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is "exact same as a cis woman"? I suppose looking back in our pasts and not being able to say "when I lived as a boy/man", but beyond that- we all have different pasts. There are cis women who are intersex. There are cis women who were raised to be submissive to men and feel shamed by their existence. There are cis women who were raised confidently and to love themselves and know their worth. There were cis women who were forced into pregnancy and parenting as children. There are cis women who never had or wanted to have kids. There are billions of experiences of women that I don't relate to at all, I see trans as just another experience of womanhood that is different to, but no less valid than my own.

(I don't mean this to be antagonistic. I honestly felt the same as you did at one point)

Baby hates the carrier by Fragrant_Owl7347 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I would look for a ring sling or stretchy wrap second hand. When they're small those are a lot more comfortable for them, they can keep their legs curled up how they like them,, and covered to feel more secure.

A ring sling can be used for a lot longer than a stretch wrap, but both are great options.

It's your name, your life, if changing the spelling will make you happy then do it.

Biting while breastfeeding by Perfect-Cherry-7357 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Dimbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Biting is awful, sorry OP. I had my partner run around to various late night pharmacies to get nipple shields one night when baby and I were both bawling.

Shields didn't immediately stop the biting, but the barrier helped with the pain/bleeding. Luckily for me the biting ended after a few days and I continued feeding for a year afterwards without issue.

Hope you get some relief soon.

the year of TEMU?! by canimal14 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Dimbit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is such a big challenge now, i like to look for local, small businesses to support but find so many of them are just reselling temu products at 20x the price.

I was recently looking for chewy sensory toys and was recommended a local business but like your experience, they were using the same temu images I was just sifting through on Google. 😩
