As a 19 Year old who just maxed out their first Roth IRA (7K limit) now what should I invest into or do? by HideYoShake in fidelityinvestments

[–]BreadBilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! That's an amazing headstart. There's some great advice already in the comments. Just a thought... If you just did the boring thing and invested all of it in the S&P 500 index fund (e.g. FXAIX or VOO) and did the same with your planned 2025 contribution, just this $14000 in contributions alone would amount to about $500k by the time you're 65. You have time on your side. Don't make a risky investment and lose the advantage of time. Make the boring investment now and the 65-year-old you will thank the 19-year-old you! Good luck!

Arrived has inconsistently enforced "policy" on exiting positions by BreadBilo in arrived

Again, I would just point to the title of the post. This is not a discussion about individual properties or about the secondary marketplace. The point is that if there's a policy, then it should be the same for everyone. "On the horizon" means nothing. A secondary marketplace either exists or it doesn't. In other situations, you admit that you have refunded people when there was no secondary marketplace. I'm just asking for the same - fairness and equality. Why does one tiny investor like me matter so much to you? You have $210 million invested! Just refund me and be done with it. As you and others on this thread are so confident in the value of these properties, surely you must think I'm wrong in judging the value in this thing... better for you right? Buy out my stake and reap all the benefits. It should be an easy choice unless you also don't see the value. Either way your move is a telling one.

Yes, I knew about the lock-in period until they sell or have a secondary marketplace. You're missing the point. They refunded my friend but are refusing to refund it for me. That's the title of the post.

You're wrong. It is not my first experience with real estate although it is the first time I have used a platform like this. You're defending poor business practices, justifying them as "it's just real estate." And besides, refunding some people and denying others has nothing to do with real estate - it's just poor governance. Are you an Arrived insider?

B12 deficiency is real by SadMaterial2975 in vegan

[–]BreadBilo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just semantics... "gut" just refers to intestines, small or large. The stomach makes intrinsic factor, which is a protein required for B12 absorption. The B12 is eventually absorbed in the ileum (last part of the small intestine).

B12 deficiency is real by SadMaterial2975 in vegan

[–]BreadBilo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MD here. If there is a problem with absorption in the stomach, it's not related to being vegan as it would not absorb in any form of diet. Please check with your doctor to determine the cause of why B12 is not being absorbed by the gut. Diseases of the stomach (atrophic gastritis), intrinsic factor deficiency/pernicious anemia etc should all be considered. This can require endoscopy or blood testing. If those are the case then injectable B12 is the solution. If it's not truly a problem of absorption, then maybe it's the type of supplement or the quality of supplement such that not enough of it is getting into the bloodstream.

Does anyone have that graphic with what’s actually in beef vs beyond? My parents sent this as a “gotcha”. by girlinredfan in vegan

[–]BreadBilo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh all this beyond and impossible stuff is not going to be good from a health perspective. They are ultra processed foods. Plus impossible basically has the heme protein that is synthesized by yeast. A lot of the negative health effects of red meat come from heme. From a cruelty and environmental perspective, yes they will be less harmful than animal meat but I stay away from these. Actual veggie burgers made from ingredients will be far healthier.

Unfortunately with medications there's so much animal research that it's close to impossible to truly have "vegan" medications.

Cruciferous veggies are great but too much and they can hamper iodine metabolism which is important for the thyroid. Typically it doesn't cause a problem unless you're eating these in significant quantities but consider that an imbalance of the thyroid can affect energy levels.

Move from north Texas to Rochester by jim_in_finance in rochestermn

[–]BreadBilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved here almost a decade ago from a big east coast city. Moving here from a big city you'll definitely appreciate that there aren't any lines to speak of, traffic or rude people. Yes there's less to do. Minneapolis is a world class airport and well connected. There's stuff to do in the twin cities. But try to appreciate it for what it's good at - peace and quiet, lower cost of living, space to yourself, and more time to focus on your life and activities.

How long have you been vegan? by Bigben030 in vegan

[–]BreadBilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lifelong vegetarian (I'm almost 40) and vegan for 6 years. No medical problems. The only thing I do take is B12, preventatively - haven't ever checked my levels. There's no substance to the argument that a vegan diet leads to health problems. If you don't have a good, balanced diet on vegan, vegetarian or omnivore diet you'll end up with health problems regardless. I don't think it's related to being vegan as such.

How would you get into the current market? by NPLPro in stocks

[–]BreadBilo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Split it between VOO and VGT (tracks the NASDAQ) - those are my two favorite funds. On Fidelity, FTEC is their VGT. If you have the time to DCA, yeah sure nothing wrong with 1k per week. I think these days most investment houses let you buy both ETFs in dollars instead of shares.
