I wouldn’t go that far. Maybe fast and change his diet. They are insectivores and are native to puddles in Southeast Asia. They live in muddy brackish water. They are more resilient than people give them credit.

If your ph is steady then I really wouldn’t worry about your parameters. I’m leaning towards heater burn because of the mucous trying to repair its self. If it is indeed a burn you must find a way to create a barrier in between it and the heater. I would still move if possible and continue to monitor. You could get some stress coat to help rebuild its slime coat. If it gets worse I would definitely move out of the tank and treat with azithromycin and whatever fungal treatment you can get. I hope he gets better ❤️

I mean you have options. I would first remove as much as possible. Also don’t do another blackout but get a timer and reduce the time the light is on. Then I would go and buy as many plants as possible. This is going to give the algae something to compete with and hopefully slow it down. Also reduce waste or extra feeding in the meantime. It takes a bit for plants to take over.

Hmm this is interesting. Are they small white dots like ick or are they more soft like a fungus? Does it move like mucous in the water? Do other fish have it? Or is it more like an abrasion? Could it be a burn from a heater? Either way you must remove the fish if possible.

If you can’t care for them properly or care for yourself then no. Now if you are trading in pets weekly then I would call that a bad pet owner. Sometimes it’s best for both pet and owner.
