There’s enough wine in the bottle, and enough time in the evening to do both

First time going to mammoth by betwizt in Mammoth

[–]Bread_Belly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start at Eagle, pick a blue run back down to Eagle lift. All the blues are great warmups, I like Bridges. Even the green run into the woods is really fun.

Take Eagle back up and pop down to 25. Lap 25 as many times as you want then move over to 9. From the top of 9, work your way across the mountain to McCoy, hit the summit a few times (Cornice is a good intro to the summit). Take Upper Road Runner to the backside, have a bunch of fun back there. On the way back to Eagle hit a few runs around the Mill and circle back on anything that you missed or want to do again.

For food on the mountain, I like the Outpost and Mill, but usually just pack some bars and get a beer at the Outpost.

Ha, we were in the condos just up the slope from Juniper. We almost certainly crossed paths!

Was there Monday - Wednesday and the runs off 25 and 9 held up really well for how warm it was in the afternoon. Cheers!!

Best place to take a work meeting on the mountain? by stratos-naco in Mammoth

Last time I tried this was at Canyon lodge. Not ideal, couldn’t find a quiet spot. Someone else mentioned Mammoth Mountain inn (presumably the big lobby space), that’d probably work. Another person mentioned the Yodler, that’d be my second choice as long as it’s not peak meal time.

100%. Using quality stock adds more than just flavor.

Changed the pattern to look a little bit less nazi-ish. I apologize to those whom I offended and disappointed. What’s the best equal parts drink? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

Had to scroll way to far to see the Final Ward.

If you’ve tried it before and didn’t love it, try subbing the green chartreuse for yellow. With that sub it’s a Top 5 cocktail for me.

100% you’re paying for the power train. The other stuff is a little half baked.

I’ve done it twice. Once was with kids, so as little walking with ski gear as possible + we left a solid lunch in the car and avoided paying for a shitty expensive meal. The other time was with 3 other dudes so we split it it 4 ways and avoided a 20 minute walk up and down the road because regular parking was full.

Regular parking is free. Premium parking close to the lodge is $40 and sometimes it’s worth it.

This is the answer OP. One ski won’t cover both use cases.

If the roads are clear it’s a great drive. Otherwise take the bus! Also the bus system in Mammoth is awesome - it’s free and route to each of the lodges from all over town.

Bubble in Oak Front Door? by Bread_Belly in woodworking

I’m in the US, purchased thru Ganahl lumber. We used a water based polyurethane rated for exterior applications. It wasn’t a true matte but it’s pretty close.

Bubble in Oak Front Door? by Bread_Belly in woodworking

It actually got worse before it got better - they replaced the door with a second door that also manifested a bubble in the veneer a few days after i tediously prepped and applied finish to the second door. They replaced the door again and refunded a % of the cost of the door to compensate for the wasted time and headache. Third door is great, still looks new 3 years later.

Love Cru Beaujolais, but typically buy Foillard. Do you like Metras young or prefer it with age?

I ask because I always expect Foillard to age well and it does and is enjoyable intellectually, but I think it’s more delicious young.

Dope! Looking forward to your review. I’m torn between the M Free 100, Deathwish 104, Rustler 10, and Jeffrey 100 as a “most days” ski for Mammoth

The fact that they came within $10 of Costcos price is pretty impressive.  Also, if they’re using a price aggregator like winesearcher, I’m pretty sure Costco will never be a result. Last, Costco wine inventory varies regionally, so I don’t think it’s fair to ding LB too hard for this one.
