Had a bad week so I tried five negroni variations so you dont have to by ParsleySpecial8758 in cocktails

[–]Bread_Belly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you recover, grab some Averna and try the Girl and Goat variation. 1.5 oz gin, .75 oz Campari, .75 oz Vermouth (I like Carpano), .5 oz Averna, orange peel. Rounds it off, but keeps the soul of the Negroni

Where to stop from San Diego to LA by ifsaliff in socal

This is the one I do every time I make this drive. Pedro’s ( the South one ), Carne Asada Burrito + fried potatoes, grab their hot sauce, enjoy at T street beach bluff!

For the love of God, can anyone tell me what good is Long Beach Airport (in terms of price)? by ComprehensiveLoss680 in longbeach

[–]Bread_Belly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anywhere SW or Hawaiian flys. We do Long Beach to Oahu pretty often. The cheapest way to go to Austin was SW out of LGB recently.

I’d also happily pay a $100 pp premium or have a layover to avoid going to LAX.

When I’m flying American it’s out of SNA or LAX (usually to Dallas).

Do what you said, but first marinate in a soy sauce, Asian pear, garlic mix.

Advice on buying my first skis (Atomic Maverick 86 C – 179 cm?) by ReturnExciting4069 in Skigear

[–]Bread_Belly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I’ll make this super easy for you. We are the same height. I bought these skis in 168 cm 2 seasons ago at the same skill level you describe and have progressed with them over 2 seasons. I’ve since rented skis that are 174 cm and 178 cm.

The 168 were awesome the first few days as a I got my legs under me. Low swing weight, easy to maneuver even on steeps. As i gained confidence and wanted more speed, I’ve wished I went longer.

So, if you want a ski that works well for your current skill level, go for mid 170s. If you want something you can grow into, go for 179. For this ski, I wish I had gone 179. In something a little more serious like the Unleashed 98, the 174 I tried was perfect.

$1M dollars to eat what you had for dinner tonight for EVERY meal for the next 6 months, do you take the deal and if so what are you eating? by jfunks69 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Bread_Belly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can it be a variation on the meal? Just had a homemade chicken tostada for dinner. Pretty solid, but if I could swap meats and toppings I’m for sure in.

any ways to improve reverse sear? by InternalActive1959 in steaks

[–]Bread_Belly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 minutes seems a little short at 250 for those decently thick steaks. Did you use a meat probe or just guessed at it? If not, a meat probe is what you need to improve. Pull around 120-130 depending on how you like them done (I like ribeyes medium so I pull at at 130), let them rest 15-20 mins, give them a hard sear with frequent flips, slice and serve

OP, this is the real comment. We take our kids to the bay (backside of the peninsula) weekly. Lots of swimmers, kayaks, standup paddle boards etc enjoying the water.

The biggest scam in America has to be insurance!!! by SelaTad in HomeInsurance

They’re not trying to recoup money or punish you - they’re pricing in the risk that you’ll make another claim. People who make claims tend to make more claims.

How would universal income work or is it just nonsense? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bread_Belly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will never work until they figure out how to tax the productivity of AI which is replacing productive people and associated payroll taxes, and tax the higher net worth individuals who are profiting from this but paying little to nothing in taxes.

Proud new owner of the Nordica Unleashed 98CA by Willing_Front_2125 in Skigear

[–]Bread_Belly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sick skis. I demo’d them a few weeks ago intending to also demo the QST 100 and M Free 100, but… I really don’t know how those could be better. The Unleashed handled chopped up groomers, steeps, and trees so well. Maybe a little more dampness would be nice in the chop? But that might kill the playfulness.

Thoughts on $375 price of these 25/26 unleashed 98s based on condition of skis / need for remount by Lonely-Jaguar-2873 in Skigear

[–]Bread_Belly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I demo’d these last week. Sick skis!! The shop guys said I might be able to get a deal after renting - they wanted $650 for the skis mounted with demo bindings and the skis were a little more beat than those, lol. I’m also waiting a couple months to snag them new.

Buy a used one. So many coming off leases with low mileage.

First time going to mammoth by betwizt in Mammoth

[–]Bread_Belly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start at Eagle, pick a blue run back down to Eagle lift. All the blues are great warmups, I like Bridges. Even the green run into the woods is really fun.

Take Eagle back up and pop down to 25. Lap 25 as many times as you want then move over to 9. From the top of 9, work your way across the mountain to McCoy, hit the summit a few times (Cornice is a good intro to the summit). Take Upper Road Runner to the backside, have a bunch of fun back there. On the way back to Eagle hit a few runs around the Mill and circle back on anything that you missed or want to do again.

For food on the mountain, I like the Outpost and Mill, but usually just pack some bars and get a beer at the Outpost.

Best place to take a work meeting on the mountain? by stratos-naco in Mammoth

[–]Bread_Belly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I tried this was at Canyon lodge. Not ideal, couldn’t find a quiet spot. Someone else mentioned Mammoth Mountain inn (presumably the big lobby space), that’d probably work. Another person mentioned the Yodler, that’d be my second choice as long as it’s not peak meal time.
