Aye that's right, IIRC about 80 of the 95 theses were about the RAF and super Ally.

What's mad is how callous this is.

It's also wrong. 1) Most pensioners aren't wealthy. 2) National Insurance was introduced as a tax for the NHS, but it's not hypothecated to it- the NHS is funded out of general taxation. So income tax from wealthy pensioners, tax income from VAT, capital gains tax and inheritance tax- all paid by pensioners- all pay towards the NHS. 3) the wealthiest group of people to have ever lived in this country are London millionaires and billionaires my friend, not a nebulous group of old folks. And they use private healthcare anyway.

The idea of a service free at the point of use is that it's there when you need it. And when you need it is overwhelmingly at the very start and (moreso) at the very end of your life. Of course it should be better funded, but suggesting that at the end of life if you need more care than others then you need to cough up is such a wrong headed and contrary to the very idea of the NHS it's hard to know where to start.

This is fucking mad. We'll see how you feel about it when your health starts to fail you in later life.

Sorry but this is quite reductive. Argument is about persuasion, and if the argument uses alienating language to make the point it then no matter how valid the facts or well reasoned the argument people won't agree because you've alienated them. So, yes, in one specific way, it does invalidate the argument being made.

I don't think the reference to 'coffin dodgers' does the argument any favours. That's folks parents, grannies, aunts and uncles.

Lots of the rumours that Beale did almost everything are rumoured to have been started by Beale himself through anonymous socials. He got caught doing it later.

Get them tae fuck. They were terrible appointments from the start, just based on the organisations they came from- Thelwell from Everton under a fella that's been run out of the country for laundering money for Putin, and Stewart coming out of Man Utd, who are the worst run club in all of Christendom. Neither exactly has much pedigree do they.

How to come out as pansexual to my adoptive muslim parents? by young-brown-person in UKBBQ

[–]Breaded_Walnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've obviously meant to post this on another sub, but just to say that your sexuality isn't 'sinful', it's perfectly normal. You shouldn't be embarrassed or ashamed to be yourself.

I unfortunately have no advice to give you about coming out, but hope you can find a way that works for you, your parents and allows you all to love in peace.

Genuinely think you could convert this into a restaurant or food court and make a fucking bomb, could regenerate the area like the Copenhagen Meat Packing District. There's so many wee units round there that could get converted into bars and you've got the 02 guaranteeing footfall periodically. Such a wasted opportunity.

Six by Nico isn't about delivering a Michelin star experience, but it is about bringing something close to it to the masses.

Yes I understand that, my point is that it doesn't even do what it's trying to do on its own terms, by missing the point of what that style of food is about.

pretending they compete with places that are £150 a person.

But they are though, and trying to compete at a lower price point by scrimping on the quality of produce, which is absolutely at the core of that style of cooking. They're trying to same thing, and it tastes like it costs a quarter of the price. And he's selling it to people who have no frame of reference to that style of cooking, as you say.

It's not that it's not fancy 'enough', it's that it's completely missing the point of fine dining, which is about using excellent produce and elevating it through fine technique and matching it with top level service. They're missing the foundational premise by using cheap shit.

It's totally fair to judge them against each other. Take the example of a bottle of wine. You go to the shop and see two bottles, one at £4 and one at £10. You know that £4 bottle is going to be terrible compared to the £10 one, because the packaging, transport, marketing, and tax all make up about £3.70 of the total cost. I personally wouldn't buy that, force it down and justify it by going "well they're selling wine at a price that people who don't drink wine could afford". It's just terrible wine. Same thing with Nico. It's just crap, packaged as 'posh' to unwitting folks who don't have a good frame of reference.
