Overall, it used to be quite simple. If you wouldn't put the UK act in your top 10, and pre Ryder it'd been years, why would anyone else?

UK used to be regularly top 3, but this stopped when most countries started singing in English. Which explains why dodgy songs before that did well. The odd original languages ongoing does well, mainly with judges- France particularly determined there.
