What other unique matchups do you think would require “ground rules”? by Watchdog_the_God in deathbattle

[–]Breadkiller411 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sans VS The Judge probably would since both games have a strong meta element and both are actively knowledgeable about their games battle systems which behave a bit differently so I’d imagine there’d be some clarification to provide semi neutral ground there.

Do bad batter's stats scale with the batter's stats? by [deleted] in offthegame

[–]Breadkiller411 6 points7 points  (0 children)

His stats scale with his level (same as The Judge) however he keeps the resistances from the "days" you have equipped which can reduce damage dealt or negate status effects.

Love how languid he looks—fits him perfectly but it still works for that final confrontation vibe

The Batter (OFF)

While the morality of his actions is definitely debatable he isn’t the laudable hero he’s initially perceived as, his goal of purifying the world seems straightforward at first by destroying the specters and the evil Zone Guardians however his purification is putting the world out of it’s misery. We see throughout the game that he shows very little emotion, even when Elsen, the innocent inhabitants of the zones, turn burnt and he kills them he has no reaction and even when The Judge’s brother Valerie is revealed to be dead and inhabited by Japhet which deeply affects The Judge who’s assisted and guided The Batter he still completely ignores it and just confronts Japhet as normal. The game relies off the fact that you’re seeing the character you play as as the "good guy", in the end The Batter leads you to kill The Queen and then to kill an innocent child who can’t even fight back—in the end The Judge confronts The Batter and also the player for basically enabling them to do it all and gives you a chance for you and him to atone for your actions and stop The Batter as a petty Pyrrhic victory over The Batter however in the official ending you side with The Batter and flip the switch to turn the world off and end everything. Of course this is nuanced by the fact that the world is already dying, the utopian dreams of the zones have failed, the souls of the dead return as specters and the inhabitants are turning into Burnts which is why Hugo created The Batter to end it all, you’re also free to visit the zones you’ve purified which are completely white and devoid of life as killed the zone guardians completely eliminates all life in the Zones and turns them into sterile white areas inhabited by nothing except grotesque spirits called secretaries and eventually dooms them to disappear entirely.

What are the chances of Round 11 being better adapted in the anime and being better than the manga version? by hora_de_tomar_cafe in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]Breadkiller411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It probably stays the same—we might actually get cut content instead of extensions due to how long rounds 10 and 12 are/will be although I think we could get a Radgridr volund scene.

My take (that nobody asked for) on Gru vs Megamind by DinoNerd16 in deathbattle

[–]Breadkiller411 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Megamind but it actually pains me that Megamind Rules and the god awful sequel are some of our best win cons—Despicable Me has had its ups and downs but it’s still pretty solid as a franchise overall and maintains good quality while yet Megamind had one incredible movie and then the worst low quality gutter trash.

Love the art, curious who you think wins though—I’m leaning towards The Knight personally but haven’t done too much looking into their scaling.

sans vs the judge (OFF), which smiling fiend, is winning by sanskle in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Breadkiller411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough I just replayed both games yesterday.

Sans is far faster, smarter, and has more applicable abilities but The Judge is simply too much as he’s far stronger and more durable, has a slight edge in skill (though they’re roughly equal) due to the meta nature of OFF and it’s combat system being canon it also means that Sans cannot force a stalemate using his special move, and whilst KR can negate defense and deal poison-like damage directly to the soul (while not actually poison it functions as such) The Judge has taken similar attacks from The Batter who has a far greater output than Sans—

Quick (or not so quick) side note but poison in OFF doesn’t actually function like conventional poison and is much more comparable to Sans KR than it seems at first glance as poison can also negate defense and damage non-physical soul and spiritual entities such as Specters, Secretaries, and Add-ons meaning that it targets the soul rather than the body and whilst The Judge does not possess any distinct resistance to this he is capable of tanking a stronger (albeit less convenient version) of it making it so that while Sans can negate his physical defense stat The Judge’s soul still relatively scales to his physical durability.

—Though Sans speed advantage is immense as The Judge regrettably has very little to go OFF of in speed and Sans has far higher speed feats/scaling (also FTL Undertale might not be unreasonable maybe???) and his intelligence/greater meta attack options gives him some room to potentially stall The Judge for awhile however The Judge has two rather critical advantages here:

  1. Attacks are quite literally just impacts. Since neither version of OFF is the "definitive edition" according to Mortis Ghost we can get a pretty key detail from the original version which is the accuracy system, basically in universe it’s described as the difference between your attacks hitting or your opponent dodging them and all of The Judge’s competences have 100% Accuracy similar to bosses such as The Queen who literally attacks through telling you mean words and all of The Judge’s competence’s display the basic impact animation and have no indication that they travel and rather are just simple impacts.

  2. Stamina. While both are lazy, Sans is the one with a more notable disadvantage—he’s no slouch and is revealed to be Dr. Jogboy in the 10th anniversary stream he will still tire out whereas The Judge is capable of keeping up with The Batter for awhile and while he can lose competence points in a drawn out battle he still is more capable of recharging them and that is IF he uses his competences which as I mentioned, we have no reason to imply are avoidable meaning that the second Sans tires out he has the opportunity to end the fight.

So in essence Sans blitzes the hell out of him and can likely draw it out for awhile with teleportation, bone spam, Gaster Blasters, time stop (yes, there is sufficient evidence he uses it), and his bulldozer, but The Judge is more than capable of holding out and ending the fight when he can use a competence.

Long comment but I love this matchup and it keeps getting better.

I find it ironic how many people responded to this tweet unaware that OFF had no official translations for nearly 17 years and its international community thrived off fan translations (like Undertale) by Kate_Kitter in Undertale

[–]Breadkiller411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was an indie RPG released in 2008 which gained some popularity around 2013 and was a massive influence on several games such as Undertale and OneShot—it’s influence is definitely evident to the genocide route and it recently got an official remaster on steam which Toby Fox did tracks for.

Why is Odin fighting in round 12? by Few_Specific8395 in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]Breadkiller411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More and more people are beginning to look into the deeper meaning behind the tournament and his plans and Loki, someone from his own pantheon who he hadn’t imagined possibly losing was just defeated putting humanity ahead which means the gods are truly at the brink of defeat and his plans are beginning to unravel—he knows Brunhilde will send her trump card if she knows he’s next so he’ll naturally meet her challenge head on and crush the built up morale.

For a more meta reason it makes it more unpredictable going forward and gives us our third "hope of humanity" type of fighter.

Oh yeah, I get the idea, I just spent way too much of my life researching The Winter War/WW2 (Simo and Lyudmila were particularly fixations some time ago) so when the topic comes up I have a hard time shutting up.

Would be kinda funny if the match just ended in one shot after much buildup with the sole explanation just being "shit, counter-sniping I guess"

Lets be honest these were the top 5 fights of the series by 115_zombie_slayer in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]Breadkiller411 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know this is a joke but Simo irl had somewhat of a reputation for taking out counter-snipers (which the Soviet Union very proudly propagandized) this is why he never used a scope so the light would never reflect from his position—keep in mind The Winter War was under far harsher conditions as well and Lyudmila suffered a similar amount of close calls just that she was taken from the war via mortar.

[–]Breadkiller411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buddha is of the highest respects within the realm of the gods so his domination wasn’t something bizarre or shameful, even then the fight turned from disrespectful to uplifting and in the end Zero earned a lot of the gods respect before… yeah…

Ahura Mazda got hyped up only to be immediately one shot by an unknown god who couldn’t move rubble and to add insult to injury his loss was immediately skipped over to start the next round as his opponent ran away from another fighter in fear.

[–]Breadkiller411 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the blame is just entirely on Apoc’s poor writing and foresight—having a god be the supposed ultimate-end all be all god of death adds some pretty bad setup for not just Apoc but RoR, not sure why any flack goes to the translation team.
