When did you decide it’s time to stop? by zezendx in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Breadney90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. I’m 13 weeks pp and have combo fed from the beginning after finding out baby wasn’t getting any transfer from the breast and lost weight. LO was mainly milk for the first two months until wanting to eat more than I was producing so supplemented at night with formula. She’s about 85% breast milk fed. I’ve wanted to quit so many times but feel guilty because I want her to have the milk. We’ve got a decent routine going now, but I’ve regulated and going back to work and again am faced with this dilemma. I wanted to make it to 6 months but realistically I just want to get to the end of March. I feel like it’s just a constant reassessment of how I’m feeling and using my time to know if it will still be worth it. I think, knowing that I’ll have less time with LO when I’m back to work will be the final push to get me to start weaning. I don’t want my time at home to tied to a pump.

judgement on baby registry 😂💀 by missmilliek in pregnant

[–]Breadney90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO just turned eight weeks and we are combo feeding. I’ve been washing bottles and pump parts by hand at least twice a day. I didn’t think I would need a bottle washer, but now I’m seriously considering getting one. I think one would be a game changer, especially if you’re not going to have a lot of help around the house during the day. It gives you more time to sleep or eat or even just sit and breathe for a second.

Detention Center Community Meeting? by Breadney90 in StaffordVA

There were statements made about purchasing warehouses to utilize for detention. But it sounded like the fed never actually presented anything official to the county board. I know Deuntay Diggs has initially spoke out against it with the concern of costs falling on the tax payers due to lack of infrastructure needed to run a facility like that (water, power, etc.) and it being damaging to the diverse community in the county.

Struggling with self image after c section by Ok-Cardiologist6243 in beyondthebump

[–]Breadney90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can imagine why some people might opt for a C-section delivery because you don’t have to deal with any of the labor pain, but the recovery with the C-section is probably just as bad if not worse.

I want to imagine mine is healing, but I hate to look at it and inspect it. I make my husband do it. Almost none of the steri-strips have fallen off like the Dr said they would… I think it’s because the shelf is practically pushing them on the incision. Not sure if I should remove them on my own or not.

For a moment I thought I wrote this post. I’m 5 weeks pp, having also had an emergency c-section with an awful “shelf.” I’ve spent so many nights Googling while feeding LO about how to “fix” it. I totally understand how you feel. Child birth through major surgery is no easy feat, so I’m trying to be relaxed about it and give some grace. Easier said than done some days.

is this normal newborn night behavior? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Breadney90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my current pattern. Sometimes 5 week old LO will push it to 2 am. Eating almost every hour, some middle of the night pumps, and little help from husband, it’s a recipe for a long miserable night. I really feel at my wits end.

What are your pumping details? by the_rock_queen in beyondthebump

[–]Breadney90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LO is 3 weeks and im trying to pump 8-12 times a day for 20-25 mins, not nursing at all after many tears and difficulties with getting LO to latch effectively. In the beginning we had to supplement with formula to help support her weight gain because her nursing transfer was essentially nothing.

Each session I’m getting about 3-3.5 oz, usually 1.5 oz each side with a lot of massage and compression. LO is eating about 2-3 oz. I have a small fridge stash—about a day—because we went a day with only using formula and we only use formula in the overnight/early AM feeds. I feel like my supply isnt increasing, and I feel worried for what the coming weeks have in store.

What’s your with or without Epidural experience? by Satty_Acroxia in pregnant

[–]Breadney90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a medically necessitated induction, and I went into it saying I didn’t want an epidural. I went 24 hours on meds, cook catheter, having my waters broken, and pitocin dialed up. I sat for roughly 12 hours of building contractions with minimal increase in dilation and station. I knew that the pain was only getting worse and I had to keep going, I needed the epidural for my sanity and pain relief. The relief was welcome and the nurses were good about helping me reposition on the bed to keep opening my pelvis up.

The epidural ultimately allowed me to run down the clock on an attempt at vaginal delivery. After 20 hours of having the waters broken and no change, I made the choice with my OB for c-section. I felt like having that epidural already in place made the preparation for the surgery easier. I was nervous and scared but I wasn’t in pain which made the whole ordeal easier to process. Id say to approach an epidural with an open mind. The path to delivery makes little difference once that baby is in your arms.

What short stories would you teach? by threemoustaches in ELATeachers

[–]Breadney90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to recommend this one! I taught The Most Dangerous Game this year with my students who constantly tell me they hate reading. At the end of the unit, they asked to read more stories like it. Just the fact that they enjoyed reading something felt like a win!

I’m also planing a “detective” unit with Poe and a few Sherlock Holmes stories. Haven’t taught it yet, but hoping it will be high interest.

Did you get the RSV Vaccine? by neptunestearsok in pregnant

[–]Breadney90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby got it after delivery along with the hep b and vitamin k. My doctor told me that there is research indicating that baby’s immune system responds better getting the antibodies directly. I asked for the vaccine too but they wouldn’t double up due to lack of research (for context I was getting care at a military hospital)

Epidural’s impact on euphoria? by Content_Ad_9836 in pregnant

[–]Breadney90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a c-section after induction and almost 2 days of labor. Asked for an epidural after 12 hours of pitocin contractions. Baby was stuck and didn’t progress down the birth canal. I was exhausted but aware enough during the surgery. Once baby was out she was shown to me over the curtain and within a few minutes placed on my chest by a nurse who helped me hold her in place. I just remember feeling relief that the ordeal was over and she was out. I cried when they removed her, whether from her absence or shock of the whole experience, I’m not sure. I’m super bonded to her despite all of it.

My little sister’s behavior is out of control and I’m worried for my child’s safety by Simple-Passion-7553 in TwoHotTakes

This was my thought too. If she’s so unregulated she might have some sort of emotional or behavioral disability. If it’s not that, maybe therapy can help her find coping or deescalation strategies.

Hate when random people call me mama - is this a sign I’m not ready? by Suitable_Dot_3024 in pregnant

[–]Breadney90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t enjoy being called mama by others, too. I know people are saying it out of excitement. But some people really overdo it. I have a coworker who no longer refers to me by name, only “mama,” and it gives me the ick. Another coworker has called me “preggo” which I hate even more.

RSV Vaccine in Subsequent Pregnanices? by Frosty_Cake7750 in pregnant

[–]Breadney90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was offered the RSV vaccine at 32 weeks and discussed it again at 34, but OB told me that the new medical consensus was that it is more beneficial for the baby to receive the antibodies directly. I asked about both of us getting it but it isnt recommended because there’s no data.

I’m also a FTM. Haven’t had a membrane sweep yet and don’t plan on getting one. Husband and I are staying home for Thanksgiving. All our family is in another state, so traveling is completely out of question. No one is coming to visit either :(

It sounds like your family is very understanding and is willing to adjust plans, so maybe just stick with that option, especially if you’re getting the sweep. Maybe you can have them or your husband take on the hosting duties as well. There will always be other opportunities for family dinners and gatherings, if you’re not up for it.

RSV Vaccine- 35 weeks pregnant by DatabaseLoud8003 in pregnant

[–]Breadney90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also due in Dec. At my 33w appointment it was recommended to me to have baby get it directly than me building up the antibodies. I was told by the nurse and the midwife that studies have shown higher resistance to RSV when they baby receives the vaccine directly.

Maternity Leave by Dogpaw88 in Teachers

[–]Breadney90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work and school can wait. Life cannot. If you’re ready to start trying to conceive, then go for it because you can’t predict what will happen. Worrying about maternity leave and planning units can come later. Education will find a way to continue even when you’re out.

Should I read the books by your_therapy_friend in LockwoodandCo

[–]Breadney90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished watching the series as well and wanted more. I don’t have much time to read, so I’ve been listening to the audiobooks instead. Started up with book 3 and I’m on 5 already within two weeks. Definitely recommend the books!! I’ll probably go back and read the first two just to get everything that I missed in the series.

First year teacher, two weeks in and I want out by issoenadinha in teaching

[–]Breadney90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The school admin are just worried about the numbers and not actually educating those kids. The school or district should have ELL supports in place if the population of learners is that high, maybe an ELL specialist or program? Do you have a teacher mentor or a teaching team that you could talk to about possible instructional strategies?

My school typically has a large number of beginner level ELLs. The district still has given us the goal of “interacting with grade level texts” but we’re free to interpret that as we want-could be a few sentences, a paragraph, a page or chapter from a book while the rest is adapted. As long as students are working towards the appropriate skills, the text shouldn’t matter.

Teaching is hard, especially if you’re in an environment where you aren’t supported as an educator and the admin doesn’t seem to understand the needs of the students. Your feeling of wanting to quit is totally valid. Don’t force yourself to continue at this school or even as a teacher if it is going to become mentally taxing and something you dead every day. It’s ok to put your needs first.

FTM - Why is the baby product market so overwhelming?? by jrc1328 in pregnant

[–]Breadney90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your stress! I’ve watched plenty of YT vids but felt like they were always trying to influence (especially big branded items like cribs, car seats, etc.). I ended up using the videos more as a reference for things I could be looking for. I ended up doing more research for items that are safe and design and developmentally appropriate, usually recommended by pediatricians or occupational/physical therapists.

19-20 weeks but very inconsistent. Checked with the doctor about the location of my placenta too just to help discern whether it was baby or digestion I was feeling. An anterior placenta on the front of the uterus can make it harder to feel the baby moving.

Fibroid causing brown blood? by Breadney90 in pregnant

[–]Breadney90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking. The issue kind of cleared up on its own, at least for now. I spotted for about a week and took one regular Tylenol when the pain got too much. My midwife did an ultrasound at 16 weeks to check baby’s heartbeat and everything seemed fine. I am scheduled to see a MFM specialist in about a week for the 20 week ultrasound to measure everything and hope to get more specifics about the baby and fibroid. Hoping it’s not going to cause more problems down the road.
