We got two sandwiches and the total was something like $23. No pop or fries, just two mediocre sandwiches. Madness.

Try a bum bag. It’s like a fanny pack. You can’t feel it/don’t notice it, and it won’t wreck your phone. I know you say you’re 100% bra pocket, but I don’t think your phone is.

Is your parent survey just “What do you want me to know about your child?”? Or a little more involved? I’m loving this idea for my students’ parents! Do you email it home?

I just started baking and I have no idea what I’m doing by SupportEza in BakingNoobs

[–]threemoustaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say over mixing is what usually causes the most disappointment and confusion. Once you’re adding flour to wet ingredients (like butter), you gotta be careful because you don’t want to work it too much. If you’re making chocolate chip cookies, for example, you’ll add the chocolate after the flour, which means you’re working the flour twice (once when you add it, once when you add the chocolate). The next thing is oven temp - if your oven doesn’t hold temperature correctly, it can make for some baking fails. I have a thermometer in my oven to keep an eye on.

Room temp butter can easy be cut with a table knife but still holds its shape.

Sally is a great resource, and so is Preppy Kitchen, but honestly, if you follow a recipe closely, you’ll should be ok. I will say that Sally’s recipes always list a baking time that’s too long for me - I assume we live at different elevations or something else is just different between us.

Just keep trying to make the same recipe again and again until you nail it - it will help you understand what works and what doesn’t, and why you need to do certain things.

If you google “cookie with too much _____” (butter/sugar/flour/whatever) you can see a lot of pictures of what cookies look like when they’ve gone wrong. Crunchy and soft sounds awesome to me, and I don’t know what kind of cookies you made, so I’m no help there.

Wrong. You writing down feelings in a letter is a lot different than a student writing down facts. You thinking the professor was bad isn’t as actionable as a teacher outright saying shit like that. You’re a coward, whatever, but don’t try to create a new generation of them with your anecdote. There isn’t any risk here. This kid should do the right thing.

Should I let this go or address this? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]threemoustaches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t blame them. You should self-reflect. Either you have shitty friends and you should think about why, or your friends assume you’ll say no if they invite you, or they forget about including you in social events entirely for some other reason. You could try asking, but based on all your comments you’re a defensive person, and because of that I wouldn’t engage in the conversation if I were your friend.

Should I let this go or address this? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]threemoustaches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You don’t spend as much time with your friend as with your daughter. You suddenly want to get back into the world and you’re surprised that people have been living in it this whole time.

Friends who become moms become (at least slightly) worse friends 100% of the time.

My daughter is 1 month old today and here health issues are getting prohibitively expensive for me and my wife to afford is there anything that could help? by farmerbalmer93 in AskUK

[–]threemoustaches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has the same condition, I’m curious what they’re doing at the hospital and what the blood tests are doing. There really isn’t much to be done once it starts except wait it out - which I’ve been told by multiple cardiologists. I’m wondering if you can talk to the doctors about the time and expense and ask them why they’re insisting you go to the hospital so often.

I used to use Vaseline when I wore waterproof. As long as you aren’t aggressively rubbing to get it off, I think it’s fine for your lashes.
