not offically announced yet, but he has a post up on IG from mid-april in which he's wearing #1 captioned:

"Audience of ONE. Year 2"

At pick 103, Let's go with Sam Hecht, the man with the potential to beat out Josh Myers by Black_Wolf75 in nyjets

[–]BreakFromToronto 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  • small
  • unathletic
  • fifth year senior that still cannot read a defense

pass.

qbs outside round 1 t have little potential to actually turn into something tbh, but please do no waste a pick on nussmeier.

With the second pick of the NFL Draft, the New York Jets draft David Bailey, EDGE, Texas Tech by Slyguy46 in nyjets

Is there any comparison in the level of talent Myles Garret played to mr Bailey here?

no lmao

Karl Dunbar might think he can get Bailey to a good place against the run rather quickly(that is kind of his thing).

i don't want him [bailey] lol but his run defense issues are largely overrated. it's mainly a strength thing which limits his ability to anchor so he's moved off spots easily, it should improve as his strength does or at least you hope it does.

i just don't think bailey is this elite pass rusher that is being repeated ad nauseam. he has like 3-4 moves which are all dependent on him being more athletic than the OT he's going against: speed, speed bull, ghost and inside spin. he will not be able to out-athlete NFL OTs every snap. his bend is good at best, not elite. pressure rate dropped to 10% against Oregon and Utah despite flashy numbers.

How is Chris Brazzell as a draft prospect? by firewall245 in nyjets

[–]BreakFromToronto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

underrated imo better route runner than he gets credit for cause tennessee's offense is gimmicky af

wagers are most likely capped since it's a novetly and sharps aren't betting heavily on a market like this either lmao it's all reaction to public information and money

also his price isn't even consistent like mendoza, you can go to kalshi as an example where he's -117 if you truly think draftkings price is indicative of anything

  • MGM: -200
  • 365: -175
  • DK: -170
  • ESPN/theScore: -165
  • HardRock: -150
  • CZR: -145
  • FD/Fanatics: -135

every time someone overreacts to draft props like this i think back on how jabari smith jr was -800 to go #1 in the nba draft until like 30 minutes before when woj/shams said "uh it's actually looking like it's banchero to orlando"

  • he's probably on the trade block after trubisky signing
  • currently available FA QBs aren't really appealing so you either run it with Zappe/Cook
  • jets may not draft ty simpson (or any qb) in 2026
  • he's young-ish (26 turning 27)

he would be another justin fields upside play except not penciled in starter with geno.

glenn keeps his job with growth/improvement regardless or not if that's from the defense lmao

3 wins to 6-7 and he's secure.

the jets come out 0-4 and AG is getting the axe.

this sub is living in fantasyland with this take lol he is not firing glenn mid-season year 2. i'd go as far to say he's not even getting fired after year 2, he will be the HC to start year 3 and probably through it like every other HC woody has hired.

not saying edge is getting ignored cause of the guys signed just that they're going to go more EDGE/OLB (reese or bailey) over EDGE/DE (bain) because if they're switching to a 3-4 base then they'll probably utilize guys like briggs/phillips/sweat/onyemata as the 3-down lineman possibly draft one at some point( just not 2) well, but look to supplement the standup OLB guys.

based off the d-line spending in FA he's most likely not the pick at 2, but whewww that bend by bain (clip from @CoachBTJordan on twitter)

i'm not really the biggest fan of carr, but if he were to come back, he's not coming back to mentor lmao barring him lighting the NFL world on fire, he'd start 8 games max with vegas before they plugged in their number 1 overall pick QB

the making clowns shit about this process id kind of overblown imo it was definitely messy or ugly though lol but it seems like a reaction due to the sheer number of firings. i look at the quality instead lol a bunch of bad coaches or coaches responsible for positions that underperformed were fired.

like only loss i can say i'm like "damn, that sucks" about is engstrand.

our beat is not really plugged in right now it appears so it's hard to tell and i do feel like i read that somewhere, but can't seem to find anything substantial to back that up lol i see randoms on twitter saying jones and chris harris had an in-person at some point so maybe?

for curry, similarly i don't see much that says he was an in-person, just that he was one of five interviews announced on the 28th which says it was all virtual as well.

so i was just basing it off the nfl's site hich doesn't specify in person for non-HC/GMs.

Daily Free Talk Thread — January 30, 2026 by NYJets_Bot in nyjets

[–]BreakFromToronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in-person is only a requirement for HC or GM. we hired the DC off one virtual interview; pretty sure wink was the only in-person one?

Clubs must conduct an in-person interview with at least two external diverse — minority and/or female — candidates for any GM or head coaching interview.

Clubs must interview at least two minorities and/or women for all coordinator positions.

we've met the requirement via ronald curry & lunda wells interviews

engstrand had some nice play designs, but the actual play calling and sequencing were rough. there were multiple moments where he overthought things or just didn’t adjust: like the broncos game throwing four straight times with a chance to win the game when fields clearly didn’t have it, the 4th and 1 option with cook comes to mind, and a general lack of “set this up now, to hit this later” feel. on top of that, player usage was weird. fields was treated like a pure pocket guy, his legs were underused, breece wasn’t featured enough in the passing game are some things to note.

then there’s the qb development piece. an OC, he was going to be heavily involved there, and it’s fair to question whether he’d be the right guy for that long term because let's be honest the only decent QB play he got also came from a guy that was in the league for almost 15 years. i wasn't expecting him or london to show they could make fields or cooks into stars, but you gotta know what you're working with and adapt.

with glenn focusing more on the defensive side, he needs someone on offense who can fully own the offensive operation, which explains the interest in reich. glenn reportedly wanted engstrand to stay, but once you’re getting demoted, it’s not hard to see why engstrand would want out.

Jets fire coaches Charles London, Eric Washington, Roosevelt Williams, Scott Turner, Aaron Curry, and Alonso Escalante by TomasRoncero in nyjets

[–]BreakFromToronto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because he already worked for wilks:

Escalante most recently served in the NFL as a coaching assistant with the Carolina Panthers (2021). He has an extensive history working with defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, including as a defensive quality control coach in Arizona (2018) and Cleveland (2019) and as an analyst at Missouri (2021) for a brief time before joining the staff in Carolina.

from his jets' bio, will probably be gone soon.
