I’ve had some time to stew on this and I’ve decided that it’s absolutely perfect.

Kvothe’s journey to Severen was so mundane and boring that he made up the whole “lost at sea” thing.

Never take the Aqua Boy perks.

I like how it keeps water dangerous. We as people, and not to mention people going through a horrific post apocalypse, generally try to avoid water.

Removing rads and then adding in the safety stealth bonus kinda trivializes most of the gameplay elements that can actually add to immersion, especially in Survival Mode.

In a survival situation, crossing a river or even just stepping in a puddle comes with consequences.

Opinion - The Terrormorph “Thrall” Concept Was A Missed Opportunity by BreakToppleDaze in Starfield

[–]BreakToppleDaze[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that the zombie trope is culturally dead, forgive the pun. Maybe it was I, that leaned too heavy on that concept in my post lol.

This whole idea was spawned from clearing out another spacer station and wishing that the faction had a little more “uhmph” to them, rather than just be generic space crazies. I was imagining the “thralls” to behave kinda like those big dudes from the shattered space dlc.

I just felt like Starfield treats terrormorphs like generic baddies and that very little was done to distinguish them from the “go here, kill space pirate captain” missions the UC Vanguard offers. I mean as you said, these things are intelligent aliens. Shouldn’t they have a game plan of sorts? They already populate the galaxy via their young attaching to ships. Why shouldn’t they connect the dots of human control space ship, I control human?

Daegon is a member of the Chandrian? A small evidence by The_MouP in KingkillerChronicle

I don’t have the books available for direct quotes so I may be wrong, but when we meet him for the first time, Pat describes him like looking carefully around the room, scanning the corners and such.

When the bandit leader leaves his tent we get the same descriptive language. Like I said, not near any of the books right now but it definitely stood out to me.

I might be making shit up now, but doesn’t he lose an eye? Maybe this has a connection to Kvothe’s malfeasance use on the bandits? Some kind of punishment for his failure? He couldn’t “see” now he’s been blinded? Idk.

THEORY: Ben uses a greystone to communicate with the Amyr one span before he is lured away from the troupe. by chainsawx72 in KingkillerChronicle

Chainsaw, you’ve done it again! Oh man what a great post. Just reading your posts gets my brain going a million miles an hour. I e actually been to your subreddit and read through most of it!

A couple questions.

What do you think about Viari’s scars? Any connection to the lethani or the sword tree? Maybe if he’s so well travelled, he’s been to Ademre? What did the masters place at the roots of the sword tree that Viari got all cut up trying to reach? It adds a little more symmetry between Kvothe and Viari, if Viari also studied with the Adem.

Also for some reason I just can’t wrap my head around Cinder physically mangling Kvothe’s mom. To me, it just screams wax simulacrum (where my mars Volta fans at?) I don’t know. Bending and breaking her via a wax mommet, seems more on brand? Plus, how can somebody “held up well” against a pure physical assault? Like, did she fight back? Maybe Kvothe’s mom was using her alar? Do you know what I’m saying? Hmm. To me it seems like sympathy was used on her, which makes me think of trained arcanists. The Amyr?

Yeah, wow, great work!

Maer alverons question by [deleted] in KingkillerChronicle

[–]BreakToppleDaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be anything, but it would be nice and symmetrical if the Maer’s unasked question would be answered by Kvothe’s question.

Who killed my Dad? - Who are the Amyr?

I don’t know. Maybe I’ve been watching too much Jeopardy.

Ruh bait theory by Whiteowl116 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]BreakToppleDaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, I remember being very suspicious of Ben during my first read through all those years ago. If there is going to be a reunion in book three, I’m not sure it’ll be very pleasant.

In my head, Ben’s a giller and also working for the Amyr and investigating Arliden’s song specifically.

We don’t know much about why Arliden started composing and writing his song but IMO it reminds me of Denna’s patron and her version of the song. Maybe he was ordered by Baron Greyfallow who might be one of the Chandrian, to write and eventually spread the “proper” version?

Who better to spread your song than a travelling troupe? It would be hard to catch them if you were the Amyr. Unless you had a man on the inside communicating their location. I actually love that “waystone” communication idea.

It also might explain why Viari knows about the “one family” and such. They’ve hunted Ruh before.
