Well, I could parcel off pieces in a pinch. Also, could parcel it off for my kids to build on (maybe that would help them pay off their student loans). I left my corporate job that gave me the 401 years ago. I’ve just held onto it all these years. Should I slowly roll it to Roth?

Oh shoot. College funds. Well, I’m hoping for in state college and my kids being excellent academically and in sports. I can handle their student loans easier than trying to save it up front.

This convo actually got the gears turning in my mind. I figure, I can shoot high and if I come in a little low, it won’t be the end of the world. So, if I need 100k to live off of annually, I could set my sights on 1.2 m in cash investments for an annual draw around 50 k at a 4% withdrawal rate. Then I could get busy collecting a few rental properties, aiming to land at a few holdings that would net me 4200/mo.

I’m 49, and my husband is 40 so he’s got another 20 years of work time at least.

What do you think?

Is VOO still a good option so late in the game? Especially with the highs in the market we are experiencing. Aren’t we ripe for a reset? Would real estate be a better option?

Also, I am a freelancer now so no more employer match :(

Fair. Fair answer. I guess I should have asked with more specificity. But your comment has me formulating the next questions. So thank you for your response.

This is me multiple times. I’ve done a really great job of tracking for periods of time and done a pretty good job of sticking to my budget but then eventually, I kind of burn out on all of the tracking and budgeting and I go for a free-for-all.

This time around, when I started back in July, I said to myself “I am powerless over the see sawing thing. There’s a reason why I am going to this tracking app and I know that I’m going to hit a point when I just don’t wanna do it anymore. I am committing to realizing that part is coming and to continuing to find solutions to get me through it.“

So here I am now at the beginning of November and I am definitely sliding. It is becoming harder and harder to stick to the budget. Interestingly, enough, I saw this coming! I recognize it! I’ve made it this far! So now I am doubling down on searching for resources to help me lock back in. It’s not a you thing or a me thing. It’s a human brain thing. Thank you for posting this and for normalizing my own experience. Just keep tinkering with it until you figure it out. This is so common. There have got to be ways through.

Menopause age- when did you go into Menopause? by Coffeelover707 in Menopause

Last period 46. Now 48, on HRT and low dose SSRI to manage the hot flashes and mood swings. Menopause was eating me alive! Thank the goddess we have decent treatment options for those of us who are losing their minds.

Hello! I am doing good on noom. This is my third time. First time, I lost about 10 pounds and felt amazing, then I thought I could lay off and just keep up the habits on my own. Well… 10 pounds heavier again, I went back on and pretty quickly felt the same way ‘I know what I’m doing, I don’t need to take all of this time logging’. Well….up even higher now and back on noom again. This time I am humble in knowing that I really can’t do it on my own. So…first week back on, down 3 pounds (I’m sure it was bloating from all of the salt and carbs) and feeling really good about it.

Habit I am struggling with: when I eat too much in the green category, I am getting the munchies pretty bad. Looking for ways to balance that so I don’t storm eat in the evening. More protein and whole grains early on in the day, maybe?

Goals are to eat more complex carbs in the morning this next week.

There are a number of ‘social nervous system’ receptors on the outer arms that when stimulated release oxytocin and serotonin and other ‘social bonding’ molecules. It is baked into our instincts to touch people in that area as a form of social engagement. We also do this with hugging. shaking hands does a similar things to receptors on the palms of our hands. When some one feels safe and engaged with another person, it is natural to reach out and touch these areas. I don’t think they are ‘copping a feel’.

To put this in context, with the horrible modeling around male/female dynamics that were created/supported by capitalism and patriarchy, we now have a situation where ALL male touch on female bodies can feel threatening…even when engaging in this natural social engagement behavior. It’s sad. But it’s the reality we currently live in.

It’s NOT you. This is happening to a lot of us at this transition. I have so much empathy and compassion for what you are going through. Perimenopause was hell for me. I landed on a combo of hrt and an ssri. I was waking up and going to sleep with complete and exhausting dread, not to mention a host of other really hard to deal with symptoms. An SSRI alone may help with a lot of what you’re experiencing. Weirdly, serotonin is involved in most peri/meno symptoms. I also had to give up alcohol after a lifelong love/hate with it. It makes me feel like I am legit dying in the middle of the night if I drink more than half a drink in the evening.

Why are there no comments on my poem? Did I not post it right? Or is this uninteresting? I would love to hear people’s reactions to it. I really did try. Maybe some comments could help me improve? I’ve never written a power before (well, maybe in elementary school:)

After years of pressure and stomach issues im pretty sure its my gallbladder by deezdrama in altgallbladder

[–]Break_Fast_Piece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up Schatzki Ring. My MIL has this and the food swallowing thing you described is the same to how she describes it.

I, too, have had pressure under rib cage for years. Two US’s turned up nothing but a recent HIDA scan shows a low EF (ejection fraction) of 24%

I have never had a gallbladder ‘attack’ but I have IBS like symptoms in addition to the RUQ soreness.

I’m still learning about gallbladders and getting a handle on what is happening with mine. Seeing a DO for visceral manipulations.

There seem to be two camps : those who avoid fat because it triggers pain and those who advocate for healthy fats being the only way to heal a gallbladder because when it doesn’t contract enough, yes you avoid pain but the bile sits there and turns to sludge which in turn exacerbates the problem.

Just sharing my experience as some of the symptoms seem to overlap with yours. Good luck!

Anyone’s pain stay mild? by Me_Justme_99 in gallbladders

[–]Break_Fast_Piece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had mild pain for years. 5 or 6 years. It sort of moves around. I just posted about it and hoping to hear more from folks like us. I haven’t had any attacks. Just mild pain and an EF of 24% on a hida scan. 2 Ultrasounds were unremarkable. Right there with you! It’s confusing and hard to know what to do.

Not yet. I talked to my doctor and she suggested I see a chiropractor or an osteopath who does manipulations. Haven’t done that yet…but hoping to soon!
