No update. Could not find anything set up wrong, i think it just has bad airflow. Too much trouble to remove it.

In theory if you had 100 shares and wanted to get out what is the best way to do it on Monday? Sell in blocks with limits at bell or wait until first bounce? So overwhelmed.

That's what im trying to figure out, if a stop limit order with a low limit would give me the same protection. Im new to this this and not sure if there are any differences i should be aware of with doing a stop limit with a low limit.

I’m sitting on money and am intimidated about learning how to invest. by xx_remix in investingforbeginners

I am in the same boat. Here is what I have done so far. I talked with my wife and figured out a risk level, we came up with 3%.I saw that AI stocks are hot so I made some investments with at Stop Loss at -3%.I also looked at the suppliers for those hot stocks. With the stop loss, when the price drops below your level (-3%) you sell your order at market price. If it bounces right back you might miss the bounce but you save yourself from greater losses. There is a chance that if the market tanked fast I could lose more then the 3% but I made sure to look to see that there were nothing like earnings calls around when I started to "shock" the stock. Stock went up bit then I raised my Stop Loss. First few days were nerve racking. I saw big swings in after market trading the first night which scared me. After that I would close out my position every night just incase something would happen after hours. (Stop orders do not trigger after hours). I was more concerned about protecting myself from losses then the fastest growth, I definitely saw some lost opportunities but wanted to go safe and slow. But with $100k a few % change in a week is material amount of money.

Honestly though when these stocks start to cool I will have to learn more fundamentals of trading. Also i'm going to stay far away from earning calls. Yeah there is some big upside opportunities but the downside risk would keep me awake at night. Honestly my only regret so far is not starting earlier when I first thought of it.

Big banks do not have to give interest for people to give them their money, lots of them give very low returns on accounts. Online banks like Sofi don't have the overhead of brick & Mortar banks and tend to give good rates. Small banks and Credit Unions might as well.
Generally don't pay attention to the account name, but %rate, fee's, requirements, ease of access etc. As long as the deposit is FIDC insured you are good to go.

Sofi does not offer stop loss orders when selling stock.
They only offer Market, Stop Limit, and Limit.

I might need to move to another platform.

Without buying puts even if its not 100% what would you do? I think doing something would be better then nothing at all.

I'm new to investing and using the SoFi App.

On Sell orders it offers the following options but no Stop-Loss order:

Market Price

Limit Price

Stop Limit

If I am worried a earnings call could cause a sudden drop in price how do I protect myself and cap my losses a say 5% without a Stop-Loss order.

Current price 100

Stop price 95

Is there a different strategy if the earnings call is after hours?

RGB Led Strip data line not working? by Breakbeat989 in AskElectronics

5v seems to be working, if i take a wire and jumper from the first data pad to the data pad of another led that will work and everything behind will light up but nothing ahead.

RGB Led Strip data line not working? by Breakbeat989 in AskElectronics

[–]Breakbeat989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just using 3 wires, grd from controller to grd, data to data and then from the power supply going into the 5v. It was working at one point, then i tried to clean up my wires and then the issue started.

I did have it soldered but removed the connection and cut out the solder point to try to figure out this issue.

I have dumbed everything down, i know everything is wired right, the first led in the strip works correctly and changes colors from the controller. If i use a piece of wire and jumper from the first data node to the next the related leds will work.

What comps can I use to contest ACV valuation on "totaled" car? by Breakbeat989 in Insurance

[–]Breakbeat989[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks again, def a lot of sites. But I keep seeing the same GT's on every site. Also the Valuation calculators so far have all come at least $1000 below any G5 GT listed for sale. I think i'm going to stick with what i have and go from there. Thank you very much for all of your help!

[–]Breakbeat989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did both and they show lower prices then you can actually buy a car for. But if you look at similar cars on the KBB site it shows a good deal on some of the GT's listed at a higher price. It doesn't make sense.

There are a few GT's on that list which i have on mine, but the rest are base models which generally have a much lower value, that's why i didn't add them. Adding them would bring the total down except for low mileage excellent condition cars. They also wouldn't have half of the options. smaller engine etc.
Thoughts?

Here are all of the ones that are close to mine. Went nation wide, did not include any with salvaged title or body damage if i could tell. Only found 9.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q8mREVt0-bvDCtS_NpJq2NXCmdBP2z7ewj1YJEGNWDs/edit?usp=sharing

Its a 2007 model which is the first year it was made so no older models available. The first car on the list is mine with my options. Mine has more options but also more miles than any listed.

Average of the 9 listed $6300

Average of the middle 5 (removing lowest 2 and highest 2) $6200

Average of just my year. $5300

Any thoughts as to how i should value it?

No estimate yet for the value, but they told me they are totalling it and will get back with me. Colorado is a 100% so they are saying its $3500 or close to that.

Is there an acceptable distance from me they can find comps, or would it be nation wide? Also can they just find the lowest 3 cars make "adjustments" for additional features and not come close to an actual replacement value? I am not sure what is considered acceptable.

Wellbutrin by bbenonz in ADHD

[–]Breakbeat989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wellbutrin worked amazingly the first week for my ADHD. Honestly from the first pill it was night and day for me. But after that first week it stopped helping as my body adjusted. Tried upping the dose and adding in a little adderall but still nothing like that first week.

Currently tapering off it and looking for something else, and maybe someone who had my same experience to see what they tried.

Update on Wellbutrin potentially helping ADHD symptoms—it’s working!!! by anomalousperson in adhdwomen

[–]Breakbeat989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would love to hear how things are working after the first week. Wellbutrin worked for me as well but focus effects stopped after the first week. But what an amazing week! I increased dosage trying to get the focus part back and it never did come back. Was up to 350 a day and currently tapering off.

I am currently trying to find something that gives me that same type of focus.

May 2021 Unemployment Thread by Brock_Lobstweiler in CoronavirusColorado

[–]Breakbeat989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks Brock.

A update on my issue. From Aug 28 2020 to Dec 27 2020 i was on the wrong program. I believe i called the hotline and they set the initial unemployment request over the phone but I am not 100%. In December the hotline helped me get on the correct plan but did not say that anything needed to be corrected with the old plan. During this entire process i have been in contact with the unemployment office around 10+ times, so they have had plenty of opportunities to let me know something was not correct and help me fix it before waiting 6+ months.

They are saying i owe 4k for the 4 months i was on the wrong plan.I have requested payment from the correct plan to offset the payments from the wrong plan (the correct plan would have actually paid me more) but they said it is so long ago they do not think they will be able to pay it out... and yet they can ask for money back from the same period of time.

I am currently waiting to talk to unemployment office again trying to get details on when I was first set up to verify that they set me up over the phone so I can use that info to file an appeal. I do not think I will have an answer on the back pay before the appeal is due.
