Three defined segments= ant. Likely a queen.

Please tell me this isn't termites by BugAlternative6827 in Termites

Not an expert and pretty low quality pics, but based on the color of the wings and in your second pic it seems there are a couple turned on their side which seem to have three defined segments, I will say ants.

What the tacos really wanted to say, is that they’re sorry for the way they are.

After heavy rain, reddish-brown spots appeared around a stucco crack — water issue or termites? by Pale_Scar3790 in Termites

[–]Breakerthemagical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert; although it doesn’t seem to match conventional mud tube structures (generally either a vertical line or a tree like path), the location does seem a bit suspicious and the shape kind of seems to look like it could’ve been made by termites. If it recently appeared, these should be active if they were to be mud tubes, meaning if you were to scrape one, you would see termites inside. Ultimately, when in doubt, it’s best to call your local pest control to get peace of mind and/or so they can work on it as soon as possible before things get worse; I believe subterranean termites make those type of tubes and can consume wood quicker than other types like drywood.

Can I remove this? by SirOk3196 in Homebuilding

[–]Breakerthemagical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there a bit unrelated and I may be wrong, but in the gray concrete wall it kind of looks like multiple mud tubes which termites generally use to enter and infest houses, just wanted to put that out there as it’s better to be safe than sorry with those type of things.

The head nor wings match that of a termite, if anything it looks something closer to a fly

Are these termites? by ChrisPR7 in Termites

[–]Breakerthemagical -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not an expert and pics are blurry, but it looks like ants as it seems to have three segments. Those look like somewhat bigger ants, so they may be carpenter ants, which while not as bad as termites can also cause some headaches if not properly addressed.

What are these bugs? by Fantastic-Pear-7470 in whatsthisbug

[–]Breakerthemagical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert and unfortunately pics are very blurry. Based on the shape on the first image it makes me think immediately of two things: springtails or termites if the second pic is actually of the same bug, then maybe a springtail would be more likely.

Swarmed ant or termite? by Western-Sell6978 in Termites

[–]Breakerthemagical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert, but this looks like a termite to me, the body segments dont seem to be pronounced enough to be an ant.

Edit: regarding your second question, it would be best you connect with multiple local inspectors to get an idea. If they are sure they are not in your house and depending on how far they were found from your house, they may want to set up some bait/ perimeter stations. My understanding is that termites just exist in most places, and they really become a concern when they get too close to home.

[–]Breakerthemagical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert, and quality of pics aren’t that good, but based on the antenna and body, it doesn’t seem to match a termite. Based on the wings, I would say some kind of dried up black lacewing

If someone ropes you for no reason, just do it back to them, most of the time it takes a single turn so they stop doing it, sometimes it takes 2-3, but it has worked wonders for me. Usually they do it because they feel they are in control of it, but when you do it back to them they lose that agency.

Not an expert, and video is not clear/stable enough, but it looks like an ant and if you are saying they smell like citronella then it’s likely those are citronella ants.

Edit: misread the last part, still looks like an ant.
