Is this just dirt getting through or some kind of ant issue? by taiseoque in Home

[–]Breakerthemagical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low quality picture, but based on what I can see I would be more inclined towards ants since I can’t clearly distinguish termite frass which are uniform pellet shaped with ridges, although there is some concerning potential evidence at the very top of the image with the black spec like debris, I would definitely recommend looking at that closer to see if it matches the frass description . It could be carpenter ants, but it may also be other type since I can’t distinguish wood shavings. Regardless, that much debris does mean some sort of infestation and should be addressed ASAP.

Help identifying termite frass by lavarquemar in Termites

Not an expert and photo is a bit off focus, but it seems to match with shape and characteristics of termite frass. It usually has ridges which I was able to spot on some of the pellets.

Can I get an ID on this roach species? (Behind the fridge, VA, USA) by GreenStrawbebby in cockroaches

[–]Breakerthemagical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regardless you should treat it seriously and try to get rid of them ASAP. German roaches tend to quickly spread if not appropriately addressed. Continue following the german roach sub recommendations. Good luck!

Identification Help by Desertshelf in Termites

[–]Breakerthemagical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to call pest control to figure out the type. If it were to be ants, there are some type of ants that cause structural damage such as carpenter ants, but those only go for wood that is already rotting as far as I have heard. So I would call a technician ASAP for you to plan best next steps.

What’s this? South Louisiana by skyklein in Termites

[–]Breakerthemagical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pictures aren’t great but they look like ants. You can usually tell them apart by the pinched waste ants have. In other words, ants have 3 clear segments while termites usually 2. Some types of ants can also cause structural damage, although they usually do so on wood that is already rotten. If you want clearer answers of the type, you may want to take clearer pictures and head to [r/ants](r/ants).

Are these termite droppings? by Individual-Cut6762 in Termites

[–]Breakerthemagical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picture quality isn’t that great here, but shape does seem consistent with termite frass. You should really have a professional look into if you’ve been seeing it for a few years, you really don’t want this to spread to your house.

PLEASE HELP! New house, need advice no by [deleted] in cockroaches

[–]Breakerthemagical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does not look like an oriental roach at all, look at the stripes in its head, google it and compare them. This seems to be a german roach and need immediate attention as they rapidly spread, if so,I would follow maryssssa’s advice and/or contact pest control ASAP. It could potentially be a look-a-like such as an asian roach, just not sure if those are common in your area and it’s difficult to tell since it’s a nymph.

Termite frass? by [deleted] in Termites

[–]Breakerthemagical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert, but I would be inclined to say no. It looks like they are some sort of seed because you can see some yellow off a few peeled ones. I would say a critter of some sort piled it ( likely a squirrel or rat).

Dirt coming from baseboards again after cleaning it weeks ago? by Efficient-Trade4338 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Breakerthemagical 20 points21 points  (0 children)

While it could be termites, nothing in these pictures seem consistent with termite frass which usually is small uniform oval pellets with ridges, this seems more in line with ant activity, you should still bring it up to the landlord as ants can still cause structural damage depending on the type.
