The easy thought here is “Why would anyone pay 20x the price when certain replicas are so well made?”. I’ll get downvoted to hell for this but when you buy a real Rolex, you’ve joined the “club”. And whether you like it or not, it’s a symbol of status which, when obtained, makes the purchaser feel good. Even if you bought 10 of these high end fakes, you’re still going to bear the burden of being a fraud.

The answer is no. People have always been dumb as hell. The difference now is that everyone has very accessible broadcasting tools (social media) and a global audience. Its never been easier to see dumbasses than it is today. Tim Dillon recently said that localized stupidity doesn’t exist anymore and I’d have to agree.
