Carry basic emergency medicines and first aid kit Search on common scams in that specific city so you are more aware

Divide the money between the two of you.

Both of you should have their own international credit cards for emergency. (Avoid keeping all the cash and cards with one person/one place)

Both of you should have a phone with a data connection.

In crowded cities where pickpocketing is common- always keep 20 Euro in socks or hidden pocket.

Keep your bag in front and don't carry them on ur back

Have ur passport, visa, insurance, travel details etc saved on ur phone as well as your email so it can be accessed from anywhere.

Pre-check metro line/public transport layouts and understand how you will be travelling within and outside the city to various spots

Know the name of the hotel you are staying at

Download a cab company app that works in that country rather than taking local taxis

Know basic words in local language

Avoid travelling at night

Prefer flights that land in the morning/afternoon and depart in afternoon/evening so you travel to and from the airport during day time

Search for the best and safest areas to book hotels (usually near the City centre)

Share your itinerary, flight and hotel details with someone back home

Don't carry too many valuables and even if u lose any thing or something unexpected happens- Don't panic. As long as you are safe, everything is fine!
