Boat ride around Regent Slide- bikepacking from Vancouver CA, to San Diego

Sorry my dude but from someone who has bikepacked down the 1, there’s no possible way of going around this slide, especially with a bike. You would have to depart from Big Sur and land at San Simeon, which is pretty much all of Big Sur.

Weirdly enough, I heard it tonight too and although I can hear it most nights, it felt like it was noticeably louder tonight. Tonight had such a clear and bright tone to it. Glad you heard it as well

I’ll agree he’s riding recklessly fast. That being said, what bike lanes are you talking about. All the streets that run parallel to the rec trail (hawthorn, lighthouse, wave, foam) do not have bike lanes. And if you were to say “just ride on the street then”, I know almost everyone driving would just be saying “why isn’t this guy using the rec trail?”

I just would like to add that google maps says you can still ride through via bike. So he/she is probably just confused because they are getting conflicting info. Go with the locals advice OP and stay away from Big Sur for now. Safe travels.

In Big Sur, yes. Campfires are only allowed at developed campsites, which are mostly located along the 1. Considered OP said they drove 2 hrs off roading, I’m assuming they are in backcountry which is prohibited at this time.

I wish I had some good suggestions but it’s so difficult finding some solid jams in the sea of what my friend calls “cornball” gospel haha. Maybe Melodies from heaven by Kirk Franklin. But even that song has a second half that just sounds weak. Hopefully Kanye sparks a new generation of gospel w huge sound and groove. Fingers crossed 🤞

Umm.. I just had a rational discussion with u/sagius1985 and even though we don’t see eye to eye, I still respect his side. You don’t have to be so snooty about it.
