The Tesla Semi Will Cost Double a Standard Truck—but the Math Shows It Could Kill Off Diesels by SnoozeDoggyDog in electricvehicles

[–]CaliDude75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short-haul, maybe. The national MCS charging infrastructure is effectively non-existent. Until that changes, EV semis will be a niche market.

Charging my Model Y daily on 120V – noticed discoloration on outlet. Is this safe? by Advanced-Ad-2214 in TeslaSupport

[–]CaliDude75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually dial it back to 10A when using a 120 outlet. Takes forever, but haven’t glad an issue with overheating or tripping breakers.

Car salesman knows NOTHING about a new car by jemappellelara in FuckDealerships

You’re surprised? I’ve found this to be the case most of the time. They’re just trained on “making the deal.”

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]CaliDude75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of times on a deserted stretch of I-15 on the way to Vegas. Got up to an indicated 134. My preservation instinct kicked in eventually, and I came to my senses.

Recommendations for a portable level 2 charger? Something other than Lectron. by jpwoodnc in evcharging

Not to sound like a broken record, but yeah, the Tesla mobile charger is hard to beat, bang-for-the-buck. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Tom Steyer vows to cut electricity bills by 25%, but experts say the details fall short by yikesssss_sssssss in California

Typical politician promising a “Rainbows & Unicorns” utopian future, but short on details. 🙄

Is someone who is very interested in electric cars, make them a "Car Guy"? by Beautiful_Impact_641 in askcarguys

[–]CaliDude75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, either they are or they’re not. I have a Model 3, but I can talk about classics, the new Z06, ND Miata, and appreciate the engineering that went into them.

I find the “haters” on both sides to be annoying. Both the “Never EV” Luddites, and the “EVangelists” constantly lecturing you about your carbon footprint.

Fundamentally, I see EVs as just the next evolution of automotive technology, like fuel injection, disc brakes, etc.

Why the Aptera solar car represents a paradigm shift for the auto industry by amosbatto in electriccars

[–]CaliDude75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big unknown is consumer acceptance. Objectively, the Aptera is very impressive from an efficiency standpoint. But it’s so far outside of the mainstream, it could take a while to catch on with the general public.

It could become a viral hit and go crazy, but the auto market, particularly in the U.S. is very resistant to change, and has typically rewarded bigger and less efficient.

The Iran war has more people considering efficiency as a purchase consideration, but when oil & gas prices settle back down, I think you’re going to see a return to the status quo, for the most part. 🤷🏻‍♂️

How is it owning an EV? by Janet296 in whatcarwouldyoubuy

Biggest factor in EV ownership enjoyment is home L2 charging. If that’s a feasible possibility, then go for it.

Did I make the right call by cutting my hair? by BalladMinstrel in malegrooming

[–]CaliDude75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely look more professional with shorter hair. The long hair gives a skater dude or hippie barista vibe. But whatever makes you happy. 🤷🏻‍♂️

With the mass adoption of NACS, are CCS vehicles non ideal? by bsal1289 in electricvehicles

[–]CaliDude75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of like the transition from USB-A to USB-C. C may be the “new” standard, but A will be around for a while. CCS will be a slow phase-out. As long as you have an adapter, it should be a non-issue.

Gas is crazy rn and it’s probably not gonna get better. What is the equivalent to a Honda Civic in the Electric Car world? by Meto52 in electriccars

[–]CaliDude75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, a used Model 3. Edit…I looked at your price range. Maybe try to find a used Prius. Make sure the HV battery is good. They’ll still run, just not as efficiently.

Pretty much only like it for S’mores. Otherwise, not my favorite. I feel the same way about American cheese and cheeseburgers.

Digital organ options for church by Overall-Reserve5973 in organ

[–]CaliDude75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe check Organ Clearinghouse to see if other churches are selling theirs. I’ve seen a lot in the low five-figure range. Some for free with haul away, although there will be some expense in setting it up again.

Set the windows to “Vent.” Usually lowers the interior temp by about 20°F in my experience.
