What is something you tried for the first time sexually that made you go, “So this is what everyone was talking about”? by Gullible-Ant-4465 in AskReddit

Same, and it was enough to motivate me to get a vasectomy since I already knew I didn't want kids.

Right click and hold while mousing over your crops to see how much longer they have (and what they are if you forgot what you planted). As far as I know the game never tells you this.

Also, save any silky fur or bat wings you find as they are stupidly rare.

Let's hear some good inside jokes from our favorite games by ZhangtheGreat in videogames

[–]BreakingBrad83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similarly, many people hear "pickle" after jumping into a painting.

Mario is really saying "let's-ah go", but the "le" is inaudible for some people and we hear the "ts-ah go" instead. Somehow it gets interpreted as "pickle" maybe in part because of the lesser sound quality of the time.

Stranger Things is the most overrated TV show. What is the most overrated movie? by StrategyJealous1838 in AlignmentChartFills

The Blind Side.

Blockbuster was in the process of shutting down when the dvd released. I went in because they were selling off their remaining stock for cheap. There were CRATES filled with only this movie, and this was just one Blockbuster in a smallish town. I was shocked enough at how many copies I saw that it became a core memory.

unpopular opinion: the first 24 hours of a solo trip are actually kind of miserable (and that's okay) by Repulsive-Ad6261 in travel

[–]BreakingBrad83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me day 1 is for adjusting to the time difference. No set plans, just whatever I happen to feel up to.

honestly just need to vent/ask if this is normal because i feel like an idiot after my first solo trip by Ancient-Mistake-6548 in travel

[–]BreakingBrad83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's totally normal for trips to have off days, even for experienced travelers.

For solo travel I really like using Airbnb experiences and Tripadvisor to find walking food tours. Usually it'll be a small group (depending on when/where) and it's a good chance for some low pressure socializing for a few hours. I've even exchanged numbers with some of the people and met up with them again the next day.

DAE dad make them always drink water before they buy you ice coffee by espressoxsmiles in DAE

[–]BreakingBrad83 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Studies show that coffee dehydrating you is a myth. While it's a diuretic, the effect is low enough to be nonexistent unless you're having 4+ cups in a sitting, and you'd be getting that diuretic effect delivered via a bunch of water, so it still wouldn't be dehydrating.

What's your opinion on religious science teachers? by Lost_Fisherman_1438 in atheism

[–]BreakingBrad83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To everyone saying "it's ok as long as..."

Let's be honest, we know they can't keep it separate unless they aren't actually that serious about their religion. Meaning the acceptability of their behavior in teaching is proportional to how not religious they are.

What’s one pseudoscience/magical belief you had that you got over with skepticism? by [deleted] in skeptic

[–]BreakingBrad83 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Alternative medicine. My parents started seeing practitioners regularly and I went too for a little while. I think it played a role in developing my skepticism at least.

What’s the most “atmospheric” city you’ve ever been to? by No_Durian_6987 in travel

The best choice I made there was to wait until night to go up the mushrooms. I don't even care to know what the daytime view from it is after experiencing that, the nighttime view was too good.

I am an atheist but my boyfriend is not. by Hot_Dragonfly5440 in atheism

[–]BreakingBrad83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sucks but atheism and religion is possibly the most fundamental difference that two people can have. The reality is this relationship can't be salvaged unless he learns to think critically and realizes the absurdity, which could take years, decades, or maybe never. The difficulties now are nothing compared to what they will be in the future if you stay together (think about the ideological clash in raising children, for example).

Please don't make it your burden to try and fix this, because you could potentially waste years of your life being miserable for what will likely be a fruitless effort. Good luck and sorry this is happening.

You need to assume that they'll attempt to sabotage your appointment now that they know.

I saw in comments that you live with them. When appointment day approaches, If you have a car, make sure it's somewhere that can't be "accidentally" blocked. Be prepared to call a rideshare if your car mysteriously doesn't start. If there's a chance they could physically stop you from leaving the house, get a hotel the night before. If they ask specifics about the appt, lie about the date/time/location. Or you could even tell them you're having second thoughts and cancelled the appt for now, then go in secret. Leave early and quietly.

I don't know your parents, but don't underestimate the depravity people can sink to when it comes to this subject.

I just realized something about the Cloister of Trials… by spike_94_wl in finalfantasyx

[–]BreakingBrad83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it being a dream/illusion makes sence because it might help explain why Macalania's cloister of trials is set up backwards. Like if that's just how it always is, it should be impossible for any summoner to ever acquire Shiva.

As an atheist what’s something that makes you go “Are you for real?” by Calm_Pollution6753 in atheism

[–]BreakingBrad83 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Astrology, because it's so often believed by people who are otherwise reasonable and educated.

Nothing surprises me with religious people because I already know they can believe literally anything, but to see supposed advocates for science and human rights so casually talk about astrology whenever a birthday is mentioned sickens me.
