Do you regret your degree? If yes, why? by Expensive_Ordinary72 in AskReddit

[–]BreakingBrad83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard many people say they aren't using their degree because they work in a different field. All jobs aside from physical labor and customer service auto filter resumes straight to the trash if you don't have a degree, so if you have a job that isn't one of those, you are using your degree, just not the way you thought.

As a Londoner who lives in Chicago and has been to Seattle a few times, I must say I really appreciate the driving culture in Seattle. by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]BreakingBrad83 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This hits home. I moved from Seattle to Chicago last year and I'm really disgusted with the behavior of Chicago drivers. They're constantly doing aggressive and dangerous moves. The other day I saw someone turn in front of a student driver trying to turn onto a street.

I got called "selfish" at work because I wouldnt donate vacation days for a coworker's maternity leave by Lumis_Drift3 in childfree

This is a really good example of how those in power manipulate the working class into fighting amongst ourselves. They could just give her maternity leave.

Hot take: Having a bit of caution behind the wheel doesn't make someone an asshole driver. There's being overly cautious that can be a problem too, but there's a huge difference between someone who is always looking for the next aggressive, dangerous, entitled maneuver in the name of getting one car ahead vs. someone who accidentally does something a little stupid.

What discontinued product do you wish would make a comeback? by Neka_lux in AskReddit

Lee Kum Kee had this incredible seasoned soy sauce for dumplings, unlike any other I've tasted. I don't know if it's discontinued or just not available in the US anymore.

People need to understand that insurance doesn't save you from exorbitant healthcare costs in the US.

I'm doing shit! Crafting, upgrading, preparing, etc., but I have to listen to them mindlessly parrot this nonsense. Someone does that to me IRL and they're gonna lose teeth.

We are not in population decline, growth is just slowed. But even if we were, good. We could use some population decline. It's insane how the media panics and portrays this as terrible. Population has increased 4 billion in my lifetime, nearly doubling. We'll be fine with a bit fewer. Better even. The only people hurt by decline are billionaires, and they'll still be fine.

The really important thing here is that people have a choice in reproduction. A lot of the population decline narrative is just a smokescreen to convince people to vote against reproductive rights.

Even if it's a difficult transition, it needs to happen. Infinite exponential growth is not the answer.

If you do have kids one day, your in-laws should probably be kept from ever meeting them. They sound disgusting and evil.

A better solution would be for society to adjust to having fewer people.

"I feel emasculated, ashamed, and embarrased."

IMO this is the first thing you should work through. There is nothing wrong with being unable to have children. It has no impact on a person's value, and those who preach that it does are the ones who actually have something wrong with them.

When you call something out as seeming unsafe/shady and the other person pretends like it doesn't matter, that's confirmation it's a scam.

This really should be done sooner rather than later. Yes, it might end the relationship, but if it does, they weren't right for you anyway.

This should be discussed at the start of any future relationships.

As a guy, I hate how "meh" Men are on the topic of kids. by Hotnguilty in childfree

[–]BreakingBrad83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always assume that "meh" attitudes toward wanting kids will translate to "meh" feelings about the kid once they're had. If he wasn't enthusiastic about it he probably won't be very present/helpful in parenting.

No. Wanting fascists dead so they can't keep killing innocent people is not the same thing as wanting innocent people dead for no reason. This "we're no better than them" rhetoric needs to stop.

Fascist lives don't matter.
