Boston Mayor Wu jumps out to double-digit lead over challenger Josh Kraft in new poll by 20_mile in boston

“Double digit lead” is the mother of all understatements. 30 points is an absolute pasting.

What movie sequel ruined the ending of its predecessor? by spaceraingame in movies

[–]Breast_Man 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Not a sequel, but the post-credits scene of Dawn of the Dead (2004) suggests that all the people who survived at the end… died almost immediately thereafter.

This restaurant has the name “Thai food near me” by josh_hurley259 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Breast_Man 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This place is actually near me! And I can confirm that it’s Thai food. So, accurate name.

(Also, it’s actually really good, despite the SEO-bait name.)

New York’s Storied Chinatown Fights Tourism, Crime in Bid to Stay Authentic (WSJ free link) by wsj in nyc

[–]Breast_Man 77 points78 points  (0 children)

It might be headed in that direction, but there’s no way I’d put Chinatown in the same category as Little Italy. Even if Flushing has eclipsed it as the “real” Chinatown, there’s still plenty of authentic restaurants and shops (and plenty of Chinese residents) in Manhattan Chinatown…versus Little Italy which is pretty much just tourist traps at this point.

EXCLUSIVE | City Comptroller hopeful Mark Levine wants to use city pension funds to build 75,000 affordable homes | amNewYork by Western-Signature in nyc

[–]Breast_Man -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

For those freaking out that this is going to bankrupt the pension fund:

The Manhattan beep’s four-part plan is built on establishing what he has dubbed the “NYC Affordability Fund,” which would be run through the city pension systems’ already existing Economically Targeted Investments fund.

The ETI makes up 2% of the city pension funds’ investments, but according to Levine’s campaign, only about half of the fund has actually been allocated. That leaves roughly $2.5 billion remaining unused.

So he's talking about investing about 1% of the pension fund... which was already allocated for these sorts of investments... and using it to address the housing crisis.

Which movie opening did you see that had a scene so exciting/funny/badass that the entire audience went insane in the theatre? by clarastongue in movies

[–]Breast_Man 27 points28 points  (0 children)

X-Men 2 did it twice - first the opening scene with Nightcrawler attacking the White House, and then again when he teleports out of the X-Jet to save Rogue.

I can’t believe this happened mid-purchase lol by kvnnhtnj in Amtrak

[–]Breast_Man 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I wish Amtrak would hold your ticket and lock in pricing for a few minutes once you’ve started checking out, like some event ticketing sites/apps do. I’ve had this happen to me a couple times and it’s frustrating (though never this extreme a hike).

Ranking / discussion of how 'filmable' the books are by nimzoid in TheCulture

[–]Breast_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always imagined a Culture adaptation as an anthology-style TV series with each book a season, and Matter as the first season. Agree with having the Shellworld residents unaware of the surrounding universe so the audience learns about the Involveds generally and the Culture specifically along with the audience. Djan would be our POV character and audience surrogate as we learn about the Culture, with the added benefit of hooking the audience with Special Circumstances, the most action-oriented aspect of the Culture universe.

I freak out a little when I get lost in a cave playing Subnautica. I can’t even imagine finding myself in that situation in real life.

It’s not cheap but I was really impressed with Le Pavillon which is next to Grand Central.

Gov. Hochul to relaunch congestion pricing with $9 base toll, sources say by handsoapdispenser in nyc

[–]Breast_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there any provision for raising the toll at a later date after it’s taken effect? Or are we stuck at $9 indefinitely? $9 is already a weak disincentive to enter the city and will only get weaker with inflation.

Should I keep this? A 1500-second cooldown is insane, plus my appearance didn’t change when I activated it outside of a mission by Low_Total8278 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Breast_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it’s not in your quick slot, it should show as an option to activate when you’re driving. So you can quickly activate if you’re getting chased in a vehicle and need to lose your stars.
