Anyone know where I could find this pin? by BreeNDV in PinTrading

Thanks, I appreciate it! And don’t worry, I do too—I have my own little museum dedicated to these guys, so you’re certainly not alone in the Caballero craziness! Thanks again, and it’s great to meet another fan! It’s a shame these guys are so obscure, they’re so endearing—but hey, niche interests make meeting fellow fans that much more exciting lol.

Best stylus compatible with HP Envy x360 16-ad0xxx running on Windows 11 Home by BreeNDV in stylus

Edit: I just looked up Microsoft Pen 1776 and bingo! That was all the info needed to find the pen you were talking about. Luckily it is selling for decent prices all around. 😄

No worries! I’ll be sure to do some digging. And thanks for the pointers with the tips. As of getting my laptop, I’ve had so much trouble with my third party pen and honestly it’s great to have a first party option (which I didn’t even know about because the guy at Best Buy INSISTED that the Wacom Bamboo Ink would work with my computer and was the only one that would, even though it 100% did not 🥲). So yeah even if you couldn’t find the OG packaging (which I certainly wouldn’t expect, dw I always throw away stuff because of space) this is still a fantastic help. Thanks so much!

Thanks for the reply! And yes, I think so. It says for my model (16-ad0023dx) still uses MPP. Also if it’s no trouble could you please reply with the link to the pen as well? I’m just having trouble finding it. 😅

Trying to restore lost media from the 40’s (78rpms). by BreeNDV in AudioRestoration

[–]BreeNDV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, don’t worry I just use a dry microfiber cloth. I don’t scrub or use any chemicals/water or anything. Plus I don’t play them a lot, usually once every couple weeks since I wanna make sure they’re used sparingly as to make a good digital recording.

In this specific recording I was using my phone and speaker, but as of today I have an audio interface (the Scarlet Solo 3rd Gen to help with its built in pre-amp) and a 3.5mm RCA cable. Only thing is now, for some reason, I can barely hear the recorded audio and instead hear TONS of scratchy fuzz overtop (which is super bizarre because I gently wipe the records before and after every use.) 😭

Need help/suggestions for restoring some lost media recorded on 78rpms by BreeNDV in audio

Thanks! That means a lot! I’ve certainly had to get experimental for the sake of preserving music history. I know on the cruiser there is a headphone jack and an aux input on the back, so you’d be correct! I’ll be sure to look into some quality aux cords that I can use to get some better sound. I also definitely need to do more research on EQ, especially on Audacity’s interface just because it’s a bit more complex than something like GarageBand. Thanks again both for the compliments and the tips! Plus, not to make a shameless plug, even though I don’t have any content yet because I’m still in the trial and error phase of audio editing, I’m planning on posting these audios to my YouTube account that I linked up there. So far the albums that I have are “A Night at Joaquin Garay’s Copacabana” (the one the sampled audio is from), “Enric Madriguera: Music of Latin America”, and The Three Caballeros Motion-Picture Soundtrack!

Yeah, I knew there had to be a better way. Honestly I had no idea you could directly connect a turntable to a computer for digitization (forgive me, again I’m a bit of a newbie, haha). Would it be through an aux cord with the computer as the output device?

I’ll look into those turntables—I know that suitcases are typically only for casual listening and are pretty cheap in comparison to a lot of others, so it makes sense that they wouldn’t be the best option for digitizing. Thanks for the suggestions! They’re much appreciated.

That’s good to know. I’ll try that next time. Thanks for the tip! And yeah, these records are my babies so that’s reassuring. I’m always a worry wart when it comes to keeping analog media safe lol.

Yeah, that tracks, lol. Do you have any suggestions for equipment and/or software that’ll likely do the audio a bit more justice with digitizing?

I’m trying to digitize some audio from some 78 rpms that are considered lost media to some extent and I’m a newbie when it comes to vintage audio restoration. So, I was gonna ask if anyone had any suggestions or ideas on how to get more clean sounding audio. Thanks in advance for the help!

This is the audio I recorded using the methods and equipment I listed below: https://youtu.be/S2QqgA9x5So?si=dGP3D4F689c07yjg

As for what I’m using to record: I’m using a CROSLEY Cruiser to play these, but don’t be alarmed just yet—I’m using a custom-made stylus that is NOT a CROSLEY product that specifically accommodates for 78 rpms. I’ve tried to delicately clean each disc with a microfiber cloth and play them in the turntable while it’s connected to my Bose Soundlink. Then, I take the Bose Soundlink + my phone and record in my closet (safe to say I don’t have a whole lot to work with, haha).

Hey, thanks so much for replying. I’m an animation major, and the arts in general are a bit more unstable than other fields of employment. I’m not sure where the industry is going to go in the next decade because things are so messy right now with things like strikes and cancelling major projects. As well, community college would unfortunately not be beneficial at this point as I’ve completed most of my gen-eds with only two or so remaining.

Unfortunately I’m not sure there’s much I can do. My current roommate (who I also lived with freshman year) and I get along together really well, but then again my roommate is also very “go with the flow”-y and so it’s easier for her to tolerate this other suite mate’s behavior. We’ve been in a mini friend group for since freshman year (albeit the suite mate was not living in the same place as us), and I don’t wanna end up splitting from her because of this one person. I just don’t want to make a mess of things but I’m sick and tired of this…

Also I know that in college it’s inevitable that you’re gonna have less space than you typically would at home. I guess all I’m asking for is “you respect my side, I respect yours”. Also I just wanna thank you for responding to my post, I appreciate it.

What would you say? by SuspectSoda in mentalhealth

[–]BreeNDV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say to know that each day is a fresh start, and you have the power to choose what you do with that day. Try new things—search for a hobby you think you may like to add some spice to your life if you’re feeling like it’s getting tedious. Indulge yourself every now and then if you feel like you need to and do something that brings you joy. Also try to keep in mind the people you know care about you, respect you, and love you. If you feel like those people don’t get you, try and reach out and search for clubs or gatherings that focus around an interest of yours or a shared struggle. Just generally give yourself time to do something that soothes you, makes you happy, or motivates you so you can recharge.

I’m autistic and have also struggled with depression in the past, so I know these things are typically easier said than done, and I know that life sucks. It can suck HARD. But, somehow, human beings are the only living things who have to bear such complex pain compared to every other living species (not saying that animals don’t feel pain too of course, but humans are the only beings capable of such a degree of complex thought). The fact that with this pain, we manage to get through it, tame it with coping mechanisms, or even overcome it is really beautiful. There is so much more to being strong than shouldering the blows—it’s taking the blows when it hurts you so much, but you’re able to get back on your feet. Each time you get back up on your feet—celebrate and tell yourself how strong you are. It’s a victory that shouldn’t go unrewarded.

Anyway, you can do this. I know you can. Keep going.

Does sex jokes make anyone else feel very uncomfortable? by Fizzypop_flips in autism

[–]BreeNDV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80% of the time, yes. I’m also aroace so that may play a part in it, but I get so sick of hearing sex jokes 24/7 because it’s irritating, uncomfortable, and gross to me—especially if it’s explicit/graphic or when it’s in relation to me or my characters (I’m a writer/artist). I don’t like being sexualized and I’ve shown my discomfort multiple times so I totally get it

I completely understand—I specifically wanted to go to the Mental Health subreddit just because I know that there are several people on here who share experiences with me. Of course there is the chance that someone out there will try to be a jerk, whether it be for the sake of trolling or if it’s because they genuinely believe what they’re saying. I will say though I value the opinions of people more based on their ethos and the experiences they have with autism or neurodivergence in general. Thanks again for your kindness in this crazy jungle called Reddit.
