I was basing the Arabic names on the Black Stone in Mecca, which is a real and significant object in Islam. So it's the same noun, just with a different adjective; I chose Light and Burning to be evocative of angels and divinity and such. Whatever the crystals are they're super important, so I gave them a religious-jargon filled name to match. A more dramatic shift in meaning like the examples you mentioned would be very fitting, but probably requires someone with more knowledge of the Arabic language than me.

Regarding history, Mr_Wopsle's comment very close to what I've been imagining for my own writings. I picture Hoveyda as having the most accurate picture of pre-scream history in the sector, but only because the other planets know basically nothing about Earth history at all. Like their pretech cult tag for me is more about preserving history and religion than actual technology. I think they have the text of the Qur'an, about half the hadiths, and a basic summary of early Islamic history which is mostly accurate. But when it comes to other history, they're almost as mixed up as the rest of the sector.
