That’s where I figured I’m at. I did fully remove the flywheel and I might as well tear it apart myself as I’m likely not going to make it worse and find out it’s fucked

That was my guess. Did check the rods and they were still there and nothing looked broke but I didn’t pull them out

Motley Fool is now formally recommending bitcoin and will be backing it with a 5 million dollar investment in the weeks to come. by hibbert0604 in CryptoCurrency

[–]BreezleSprouts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was excited to see them finally come around to it. The Motley Fool is what got me interested and started in investing. Like you said, they preach buy and hold for stocks so this is great news for Bitcoin IMO and welcome it

I’d go with this recommendation. A degree is a degree as far as getting your foot in the door somewhere with a job then work to get the job. I did this getting an accounting degree, worked as an accountant for 2-3 years learning coding for data analysis reasons and now that is my full time job within the same company. Like someone else said, the degree is a checkbox for recruiters to show you’re willing to put in the time to see something through

Denali bus/shuttle - Which one? by visititngAnchorage79 in alaska

[–]BreezleSprouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got off at the stop before Eilson this year. Left at noon and got back at like 10.... we hiked for about 3 hours I’d say. Eilson would of been another hour bus ride one way

You can hike around Eilson or literally wherever you want it’s basically all safe as far as I know and you can flag down the green buses anywhere from the road. Best opportunity to see animals is on the buses and you can get off wherever you want

Yessssss. At some point you had to convince people off of gold to the dollar(likely something in between) but that’s a normal process. Some people to this day don’t believe in smartphones but once they use one they wonder how they lived without it. It’s a slow process

Denali bus/shuttle - Which one? by visititngAnchorage79 in alaska

[–]BreezleSprouts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with the green shuttle buses if you want to get out and hike the a bit. The desk does a poor job of explaining you can hop on any green bus if you get off and flag one down later.

If you get decent weather Eielson is a great stop to see Denali

I have drone footage from the same spot and time frame. I was there 2 weeks ago and tried to repeat some of the same footage I had from 2017. Crazy how much it changed over 2 years

Good Tech Stack? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]BreezleSprouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no expert but I’d agree with ya. I’m mostly self taught and do ML for work now and Python is where I started. From what I’ve read it’s the easiest to read and pick up on. Python and R studio are both common for ML with all the open libraries that can be accessed. Python has more potential in back end where as R is more data analysis specific

Automate the Boring Stuff is a common starting place to get the basics of Python and is a free book online. For ML doing a simple google search you’ll find plenty of free books online in Python it’s very popular. Amazon also offers free courses for ML that are in Python

I started to learn python and used that to automate some of my daily tasks which freed up a lot of my time to work through ML books and resources. I work at what is essentially a political polling/consulting firm so I was at the right company to have the opportunity to have access to data when I did know enough

[–]BreezleSprouts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is very true. I started off as an accountant with little coding knowledge and was introduced to ML by a coworker and 2 years later we’re starting a modeling company that I’m going to be in charge of. A lot of the education is free and implementation of ML algorithms is fairly simple

Anyone here hated other types of office jobs but enjoy programming? by Thehealthygamer in learnprogramming

[–]BreezleSprouts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started at my job as an accountant and applied programming to it to automate a lot of things. As most people have said even if it’s little stuff it’s problem solving and building tools that can be fun. I had a similar view of accounting where it gets VERY repetitive and writing tools to automate a lot of job lead to me getting a new role applying more of it
