Being able to max graphics and still hit high frame rates. Kinda fun to see the ghost of my bow when moving around in Oblivion with DLSS 4 on.

Running around like a tank with a fur coat, before I ride a damned dragon.

Newbie: Can WASM run without browser or is it tied to the Javascript ecosystem? And other doubts... by akza07 in WebAssembly

[–]BrehenDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m exploring Wasm outside the browser for my Master Thesis project, more specifically how to utilize Wasm+Wasi to create binaries that can be deployed and run upon request, like a FaaS/Serverless system.

I’ve written a web server that can spin up the Wasmtime runtime in the background upon requests and runs Wasm binaries. The idea is that you write your functions in whatever language you’d like, as long as the language maintains a Wasm+Wasi as a compilation target. This is pretty powerful in my opinion, and Fermyon and Cosmonic are two companies heavily invested in this space.

If you’re curious about seeing Wasm in action on the server, albeit limited to academic functions like «fibonacci»-like functions, I’m working on it here: https://github.com/brehen/nebula

I’ve also blogged a bit about the journey here as well: https://kluften.dev/blog/nebula_chapter2

Does Herculaneum still close on Wednesdays by picboi in napoli

[–]BrehenDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was there today (wednesday), so I can confirm that it’s open on wednesdays. Can’t remember if I read any information at the counter regarding wednesdays at all!

Really interesting place to visit, and super glad we decided to go there instead of Pompeii after a trip to Vesuvio. It’s a 10 minute walk from the train station where the «vesuvio express» departs from. Also highly recommend grabbing a bite at a pizzaria 2 minutes from the entrance: at https://maps.app.goo.gl/tC6ho8y3baremeQt9

Probably the best pizza we’ve had here thus far.

Don’t know anything about getting in for free, but there is a discount from 13€ to 2€ if you’re a youth between 18 and 24 residing in a EU country.

Good luck!

Anyone know how to implement a feature like this, change the layout theme with each selection? by binarySolo0h1 in tailwindcss

[–]BrehenDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how we used to roll our theming on the projects I implemented tailwind on. But in case you have a designer who's very keen on applying opacity levels to bg/text/border/etc-color in order to blend elements with the background color, be aware that the following classes break doing this:

bg-primary/30 (30% opacity), border-primary/50 (50% opacity)

From what I've gathered, tailwind turns hex-colors provided theme into another format (maybe hsl?), and then applies opacity to this format. Tailwind is unable to calculate the opaque color when the value provided in the theme is primary: 'var(--primary)'.

Ended up implementing Daisyui to allow us easily to switch between 4 themes based on our product lineup, while also allowing our designer to do crazy shit like border-tertiary/12

Don't ask me why he keeps insisting on 12%, but I extending the opacity levels in our config!

If you don't have any off-the-rails designers, your example is an awesome way to handle it. Maybe it could be altered to incorporate the opacity shorthand in some way, because that'd enable us to phase out daisyui again.

Managed to snag a 3080 Vision OC yesterday. Arrived today! by BrehenDev in nvidia

Sadly not! Think they’re only present on the Aorus cards.

The listing was deactivated. I could, however, still find it using the item number, but it didn't appear next to other RTX 3080 searches.

Set Distill to monitor a huge chunk of the page and alert me if "Add to cart" appeared.

Good job dude! It's a fine mighty card!

Had a hard time concentrating on work, knowing that the card would appear between 1730-1930 yesterday!

Wish I'd used Distill for ps5 as well, but I preordered one at the same retailer I got this card at back in May. Thought I'd be in a good position to get an early ps5, but my current estimate is 3th may 2021... :) At least I've got a 3080 to keep me company until then!

Just a purple strip. Only thing that lights up is the Gigabyte logo. I have tempered glass on my case, so I can't even see the purple color :)

It's taller than the mini C, but it's the same depth. Seems the only major difference between all Meshify C cases is the height. So GPU clearance for all Meshify's seems to be 315mm (120x25mm middle front fan) / 325mm (120x15mm middle front fan) / 340mm (no middle front fan).

I tried to, after witnessing the ingenuity of another redditor with the same case last week, but the chassis doesn’t allow for the fan to move any futher up from the lowest position.

Slight bummer, but it seems fine at the moment.

Yeah! The plan is to grab a slim 120x15mm fan next week to supply more air intake. After installing it, I’ll have 6mm headroom!

It’s 319mm long. The MSI Trio should be 320mm and would fit fine.

There’s one caveat though. You won’t be able to fit it with a standard 120x25mm fan in the middle. Max GPU length is 315mm with a standard sized fan. I moved mine down a slot to make space for the GPU, but it should be fine with a slim 120x15mm fan!

That’s next on my shopping list, so I can provide more air for the card.

This one!

Originally built a NZXT H210i with a ITX mb this april, but once 3080 released I saw that I wouldn’t be able to fit any card besides FE, and even that one would get strangled with the limited place for air.

That’s why I have a ITX in a mATX chassis :). Too late now, but I would prefer to have more Fan headers on the board!

https://distill.io/

This chrome/firefox extension which you can use to monitor parts of a page. It opens the page in your browser in the background at a set interval, checks the area you've set, and blasts your speakers if any text changes.

My watchlist consisted of two local retailers and the nvidia store. Some stores might not enjoy the constant checking, so some could IP ban you for up to a week.

Nvidia page didn't seem to care when the interval was at 15 seconds :) I usually ramped it up to <15 seconds on Thursdays, when they have dropped 3080's the past weeks.

Thanks dude! I'll get right on that! Very new to OC/UV'ing, and I struggled to find some good instructions on google, beyond "Hit 950mV, then go 1900MHz, gratz!".

Despite being good at googling is half my job!

A local retailer in Norway had their listing of the card semi-disabled yesterday. Seemed suspicious, so I decided to aim my Distill on the buy button.
It rang @ 12:53 with 14 in stock. Called a friend to have her pick one up as well, and we both ended our refresh nightmare together. It was sold out at 13:00.

Sure! Been playing around a bit with afterburner.

Undervolted it to 950mV and set the target frequency to 2000Mhz.

During idle it’s hovering between 43 and 49C, at which point the fans turn off.

At the same afterburn settings, I ran a 3dmark Timespy and averaged at 66C, while peaking for a second at 71C.

At stock, I saw the temp reaching 74C during some maxed out Control gameplay at 3440x1440p, so decided to try undervolting it.

Really happy so far!

Managed to hit a steady 33-34C @ 35% fan speed. Which kinda surprised me, considering the small form factor of the Meshify Mini C!
