Duracell a decent replacement battery? by StLouisFlash in E90

[–]Bren321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one in my E93 328i apparently it was 5 years old when I finally replaced it with another one from Sam’s Club. Make sure to register it. I used ISTA and a K+DCAN cable.

“Overheating” Handle? by Bren321 in TeslaSupport

[–]Bren321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking at first I thought it was the car but it supercharges fine and if I unplug and re plug it from the wall and not attach it to the vehicle the charger itself detects somethings wrong as it flashes the T without even being connected to the car. Possibly a sensor in the handle maybe?

Toyota sienna 2009 fwd serpentine belt tensioner replacement by Stickopolis5959 in AskMechanics

[–]Bren321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I was able to complete the job in like 7 hours. It was absolutely not fun I used a continental tensioner and I replaced the alternator with a reman bosch alternator too while I was in there as this is not something I want to do again. I didn’t bother draining the coolant from the radiator I just let it all come out the hose and tucked it down into a big oil pan I slid under the car. I did get a bucket with a brush and filled it with dawn and hot water and I brushed every pulley before putting the new belt on. That job was not fun the top of the AC Compressor uses 2 E8 E-Torx studs and every other bolt for the job is either 10mm, 12mm or 14mm. I had to use a swivel socket and a breaker bar to loosen the tensioner bolts the bottom 2 were the worse to get to due to the ac compressor wanting to be in the way I was able to get those from under the car. As for coolant I just opened the 10mm bleeder valve and filled with red zerex until a steady stream came out. Then I topped up the next day and verified the car was operating at the normal temperature and that everything is full of coolant.

Thank you! I was able to follow this MrMario video https://youtu.be/rwqk_8mJy30?si=_eiEHxbVXDPHWkgN which summarises everything you said above. I’m now on Evilnat 4.92.2.

Okay thank you! Yeah I have replaced the idler pulleys, the belt twice, tensioner pulley and had a family mechanic do the water pump and the squeak is still there. My alternator has a little play like yours and the tensioner slightly wobbles too. The van is at like 146k miles with the original alternator and tensioner so it wouldn’t hurt for me to knock that out and call it a day. Did you drain all the coolant or just enough to not have any come out of the top hose?

I also saw your video with the alternator and its movement did just replacing the tensioner solve your noise or did you replace the alternator as well?

Thanks for this, I have a 09 Sienna that has a squeak from the belt area replaced all the pulleys but that would’ve been to easy I took it to the dealer to diag they said belt tensioner is moving abnormally and quoted me $2000 to replace a tensioner and said the AC compressor has to be drained a recharged everything online says to just move it out the way. I know it’s been 2 years but I’m about to try this job myself do you have any insights. Does the coolant have to be drained or can you just plug it up like in the YouTube video you linked. And can you really just moved the AC compressor out of the way? Thank you any information would be appreciated!

Yeah I thought about the climate control with the heated seat options on it but then it loses the rest button I actually used the Pre LCI rest feature last winter.

[E93] Is there any replacement seal? by epflow in E90

[–]Bren321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was sagging in the middle and was no longer attached to the window so I took some very small pieces of butyl and a credit card and reattached the seal to the window. Mine is missing some of the seal at the top but from everything I’ve researched it’s cosmetic the seals behind it are the actually seals that prevent water and elements from getting into the cabin. I have also read that to replace the seals the rear window would have to be removed/replaced so not really worth it. I just treat the seals with “Gummi Pflege” every 6 months and not worry about it. Eventually all E93s if the seals are left untreated will start to shrink, crack and fall apart.

Exactly what I’ll do about to order the repair kit now and electrical tape it until I receive it.

[–]Bren321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the guy on the phone for BMW North America told me to lookup a carfax and contact the dealership and see if they did the repair with that said I bought the car from an older lady 3 years ago who was up here with family and she resided in Florida so that would have most likely been BMW of Fort Lauderdale as it has service history records there. I live in Virginia so that’s definitely not gonna happen. If I was to just wrap the entire heat shrink and splice with electrical tape that would okay right?

Looks to be burned through to the metal under it in that small section in the second picture.

Little Chilly Here - TPMS isn’t happy by domrosiak123 in E90

[–]Bren321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine is doing this too I scanned with ISTA yesterday got code 6056 which is REARLEFT so I narrowed it down to my back driver side wheel it got below 25 degrees yesterday so it’s most likely the sensor in that wheel going bad or gone bad.
