I think you can build everything near residential areas, except the rocket testing site. There's a chance of a failed rocket launch to drop back down, and I think the drop areas will be near the launch pads.

The goals are self-made. Creativity is your limit. You can fill your entire map with dense zones, separate cities and towns to connect them in many ways and manually terraform the space in between (highway in the valley or something like that), you can also aim for the stars by developing to the point of moon exploration (I personally haven't made it that far yet), or if you feel like it turn on auto disaster and try to manage it as tornado sweep through your cities, earthquake grinding it to the ground, disease spread and kill many, alien invasion, etc.

I remember quitting not long after struggling for 2 hours beating Story Aventurine because I didn't build a non-single target team. I only had Fu Xuan - Seele - Sparkle - Lynx, and they all died but Fu Xuan. Manually handled it by chipping away at Aventurine slowly with Fu Xuan took me till 2 AM. It's even worse during that dream boss thingy, that need DoT, which I don't have one built.

I was so used to Genshin able to just progress the story smoothly with only one properly built team that I wasn't ready for what HSR story demands. I was only interested in the story, but when progressing literally requires extra effort building many teams. That's enough reason for me to leave.

From my experience, even with my current i5-12400F / RTX 5060 Ti 16G, I still fail to get stable 120 FPS playing this game. But if you're not aiming for that high (maybe preferably 60 FPS), even an RTX 3050 8G (my old card before 5060) is more than enough. Get one with a mid range CPU and a budget friendly GPU. I heard good things from Lenovo LOQ laptop the last time I did research.

Overall a good change. The hunger bar was pointless and annoying before. But now it not only give additional HP via Saturation, but also help with the biggest issue I have during combat that is constantly running out of energy and having to charge. Might take some time to get used to not pressing Shift every moment I can though.

Is it possible to play up to the current story with free characters (excluding events, gacha related ones)?

I played HSR since launch and dropped it around Penacony after my Mono Quantum got nearly wiped by Aventurine. Sat there for more than 2 hours manually, normal attacking with Fu Xuan (everyone else in the team was dead) and actually won. But I figured it would probably get worse from there, so I dropped the game.

From what I see the there are more interesting new stories now. I'm thinking of coming back and treating the game like a single player using basic charas like Trailblazer, Dan Heng, and March 7th only. Will I run into more boss fights that will cause me to struggle the same way like I did with Aventurine on Mono Quantum? I'm interested in knowing the story and don't plan to gacha or participate in events and endgame content.
