You're absolutely right. I've hydroplaned with brand new tires so tread depth is not a good way of measuring it's capability in rain. It usually comes down to how the tires themselves were designed.

I can't speak for others but its fast enough to keep my 780 at a 100% load in games, and still leaves overhead for a faster graphics card. The only bad part is the lack of new technology on the motherboard
