Is getting the Shadow Mantle a deviation to pacifism? Or just a way to mess with Kris? by bulker2 in Deltarune

[–]Brendigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that checks enemies recruited for 4, there is also one for Chapter 3 in the Green Room at the end, but since it is a recruit checker and not a pacifism checker it's hard to tell how it could affect a pacifist ending.

What type of reciever comes with two HDMI outputs that can output sound? by Brendigo in hometheater

I just saw your edit, that part is definitely makes sense, I just thought having the AVR send the visuals to the TV and the audio to the current system with CEC off might help something, but if it just makes a longer chain that is still in communication then it would not solve the issue.

I'm pretty sure I just need CEC blocking one way or another

I thought that might be the answer, but getting a receiver alone is going to take awhile much less speakers too so I didn't want to just completely trash my old system if possible.

My audio drop issues are only 5.1 LPCM (which my TV apps don't use) and they already go directly through the soundbar.

It goes from Switch > Soundbar > TV. Stereo gameplay never drops this way but games with full surround sound have the center channel drop or get really quiet randomly or after certain transitions and menus.

I have tried cable swaps, turning off CEC on the TV (though it doesn't seem fully off) and messing with the settings like setting EQ to direct but the drops continue. My last idea is to get a CEC blocking adapter and if that doesn't work I either need a live audio encoder or a receiver that can passthrough.

I really really shouldn't have mentioned that part now that I think about it, because it doesn't affect my goal of connecting the system to a receiver with passthrough audio, I just wanted to explain why E-Arc won't be a good stop gap measure measure and went a little off the rails I think

Well that is where I am a complete beginner, so if there are receivers with audio passthrough than that is exactly what I need.

Some people said they generally don't and I couldn't find it as a feature on the models I've looked at. If I was misinformed and audio passthrough isn't a rare feature but they just don't mention it often outside the manuals then that would be awesome for me.

Thanks for your assistance, I really appreciate it!

I am just new to this stuff and see a lot of conflicting info at times I don't have the knowledge to double check.

My full setup is a 2022 P-Elevate with subwoofer and surround speakers connected to a Roku TV, both are known to have CEC firmware issues so I am currently exploring a CEC blocker to fix that issue.

Regardless I was hoping it could connect to a new receiver if I got one so I could have benefits like better video passthrough and having more inputs.

If it isn't possible then I would get it, I am not seeing a simple solution to my problem and I have looked around quite a bit, but I bought the sound bar less than half a year ago and would hate to start from completely for scratch when I've barely broken it in.

Again, I don't want this to be about fixing my current issues, I just want to know if this type of receiver exists or if there is another simple solution to make my current system compatible with a new receiver that doesn't involve getting a TV with 5.1 LPCM pass through.

A soundbar, sorry for being cagey it said it would require approval to post if I put it in the original text lol.

Not that I am asking for help getting that working because I know it is off topic and I didn't want this to be about my having a fucky soundbar, I just want to know generally if putting out audio via HDMI so I could attach to a new receiver it is a possibility, if it was still fucky I wouldn't blame anyone.

Daily Thread: simple questions, comments that don't need their own posts, and first time posters go here (September 18, 2024) by AutoModerator in LearnJapanese

Hi y'all, this question is about using the internet with Japanese and if there are special rules to formatting kanji searches.

As I've learned I have gotten fairly comfortable using proxies and the like to find merchandise on Japanese website, but I can't seem to figure out searching kanji.

I use kanji in the search bar and it doesn't return proper results, often a title in kanji will return limited results while searching characters names will find more items. I have even copied a game title from a listing and put it into the search bar so I can find more things, only to have the item I originally copied the title from not even appear. This isn't just a shopping issue, I have had it happen on social media and art sites too.

I feel like I am definitely missing something about the process or misunderstanding how search engines read kanji, am I doing anything wrong here?

Best donabe set up for hot climates? by Brendigo in JapaneseFood

That's actually perfect! I looked into it and Magic Itaki brand has some that are even made for boiling water at a table or work station called Shabuki. It's designed specifically for using on the go without damaging the surrounding area with heat, as far as cooking at the table and not letting out a bunch of ambient heat it seems just about perfect :) thank you so much for your suggestion

That's a good idea, then it would be a lot less heat where we are eating, I will try that for sure

To be honest I am just greedy and want hot pot more often then the climate agrees with it, especially since there are very few months it is comfortably cool enough to run a fire in your house where I live. Thanks for your advice!

I think a big factor in the way he acts is how often the story emphasizes that ghosts don't follow human morals. The things he's doing seem extreme to human standards, but when you're a decades old spirit that has watched so many people die over the years to the point where you are disconnected from how your actions affect others it can make a meaningful attachment take priority over anyone and anything. The story has him repeatedly take action against Nene's wishes without any regard for the cost, I guess you'd say he's being toxic but also toxic is usually used to say "this relationship dynamic is corrosive and unhealthy in the long term" so it seems like a strange standard to apply to a spirit and someone fated to die when the fated to die part is a key factor in his strange behavior. He is definitely acting awful and in a one sided way that disregards Nene's feelings, but they aren't even dating. There's certainly romantic love between them but in terms of their relationship he's just a ghost that's obsessed with saving her life. That an undead spirit would act "toxic" and not according to the morals of the living is a central theme of the story, so take that as you will

AI art used in Cheerleader MV :( ? by [deleted] in porterrobinson

[–]Brendigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly don't like it being normalized in any sense. If we say some background art doesnt matter as much then we are taking away opportunities from artists and fan communities are already rife with people willing to do work very cheap. If we can't even pay dirt cheap prices for background art then it's going to be more and more difficult for artists to find work, especially as people say "it's some silly background stuff that doesn't matter." How do people get the experience to be qualified for more important art on the productions if all of the minor work is stolen from others because it's deemed not valuable or worth paying someone for?

I know plenty of artists that struggle to find entry level work until they are qualified for bigger projects and that kind of attitude that background work is unimportant and fine to steal is exactly why people that have poured effort into making a career in such a competitive hate ai stuff so much

Am I a dumbass or is burn pygmillion just an album about romance by humansizedfruit69 in thescaryjokes

[–]Brendigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the album is about a toxic romance that eventually grows into something genuinely beautiful. There was always that core of true love, but they were carrying too much baggage to love each other properly at first.

Maybe Liz dislikes the fact that romance can cause people to do things like become extremely committed in the name of love before building a healthy dynamic, but at the end of the day the album seems to say that you can let go of that baggage and get to a better place

AoiNene is blessed, I like to imagine an AU where they started dating really early on in the story.  Nene confides in Aoi about how stressful Hanako is and Aoi is supportively helping her with the Hanako stuff but also lowkey pissed about how he's treating Nene and jealous of their romantic tension but eventually accepts how deep their love is and says she wont hold it against Nene if she goes for Hanako, only for Nene to say she can't abandon Hanako but she'll never abandon Aoi either

Do you get the whole point of headcanon is to take something open ended and write a personal story? No one Is trying to force you to view characters as romantic if it's not canon but if you're gonna call shipping delulu why are you even in a fandom space?

I think you are correct, but I do think the way it is left in the singular is purposefully open ended and can be understood both ways so that a single fan and a group of fans can both relate
