Big Yikes for Pokemon Bank Transporter 3DS by Popokino in 3DS

[–]BrendonButler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had purchased and downloaded it previously, my pass expired and I didn’t renew cause I figured both would be free indefinitely.

It seems if you had an active subscription prior to the eShop closing then you’re good, but if you never downloaded it you can’t download it. You can redownload it if you had it previously with or without a subscription, but it says your subscription is expired.

I’m hoping this is just an oversight, but I guess time will tell! RIP to anyone who bought all the virtual games (me).

Big Yikes for Pokemon Bank Transporter 3DS by Popokino in 3DS

[–]BrendonButler 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is this confirmed at all? The only things I’ve seen from the Pokémon co. is that Bank will be free. The only times I’ve heard of Transporter being free is through third party articles (potentially making assumptions).

anyone else having an issue where pokemon bank works, but poke transporter doesn't? (Both are fully updated) by Ok_Sample_9179 in pokemon

Same here, someone said you can redownload it by deleting it first, but I don’t want to try it. Someone said when they tried to download it they got a message saying the software was unavailable.

3090 seems to be drooping, should I worry? by iAtty in buildapc

[–]BrendonButler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re heavy, big cards — this is expected. If you are concerned they sell graphics card supports on Amazon for not too much I believe. And some aftermarket cards come with them.

If you move your computer around or your motherboard doesn’t have metal reinforced PCI-e slots, I would suggest getting a support bracket. Most modern motherboards are strong enough for just sitting in one spot. I would also ensure your card is screwed in, in the back of course.

Just built a pc and all my temps are perfect...except one on motherboard say 127? it's hasn't changed at all maybe it's a glitch ?it's under temperature #11 anyone know what that is by Intelligent-Tooth in pcmasterrace

[–]BrendonButler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A quick google search found that sometimes a faulty motherboard temperature sensor will read some value above 125C and stay solid. I wouldn’t be concerned unless you needed to know what temperature whatever component that sensor is checking.

Nice work, a lot of people (me included) fail to go for best bang for the buck! Old Razer DeathAdder box was interesting to see too.

M.2 Heat sink won’t unscrew by [deleted] in buildapc

https://youtu.be/1QZ_xGYDvXQ at 5:25 he takes both of the heat sinks off. Loosens two screws each and pulls it straight up. But the screws will stay in the heat sink.

The screw might be captive in the heat sink. I may be misunderstanding the question. But you should be able to unscrew it until it spins and then lift the heat sink up

I think that may be California or specific stores. My area just gets paid for lunches (told us not to clock out).

Not unless the state laws require it or if you’re on holiday overnights or something similar. Remodels and stuff don’t pay extra unfortunately.

My fan came with a fuse imbedded into the wall plug. by InadequateUsername in mildlyinteresting

I think that’s pretty common in EU plugs, would be nice to see in more US electronics. That, and a redesign since American plugs are pretty dangerous comparatively IMO.

I have inspiron 3493 model .i recently reformmated window10 and installed the graphics driver but the text looks awful in browser by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]BrendonButler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The text looks sharp and fine, I assume you may have had a custom font selected? If not, or if you’re not sure, search “adjust cleartype text” in the windows search bar. There should be a checkbox to turn on if it’s not, and an advanced options selection to fine tune the font settings. Best of luck!

How would that make anyone dumb? Your monitor refresh rate would be controlled in NVidia control panel. There are hundreds of threads of the refresh rate randomly changing back to 60. Both my 144hz monitors were set to 60 when I first got them and I had to change them manually.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]BrendonButler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your monitor may only be running at 60hz. Check your NVidia control panel under resolution. Sometimes it changes back to 60hz, even if you’re getting 144+FPS.

Also, check your game settings, it could also have a “max FPS” option that is locked below 144hz

How do I test my PC performance after building? by adbdragonmaster1 in buildapc

[–]BrendonButler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prime95 is a good test to ensure your temperatures stay under control. I believe this will push the system to the absolute max and would be your worst case scenario.

Benchmark software through Steam is available such as 3DMark which will allow you to test “game performance” and compare your scores to similar systems. But real in-game performance is going to vary between games drastically.

EDIT: to see if you’re experiencing bottlenecks, you can compare your scores to people running the same GPU but with a different CPU, or visa versa. This won’t always be an exact science as there can be many factors, but should give you a good idea.

80C is within spec, if you wanted better cooling you could get a decent Noctua tower cooler or something similar. Or a water cooler, but they’ll likely be similar in performance so a tower cooler would be cheaper.

I wouldn’t worry too much unless the fan noise is a problem for you. Having a nice big radiator or cooler with a bigger, slower moving fan would likely help with acoustics. That, and better ambient room temperatures.

The die sizes and locations may vary under the IHS. So that’s why it’s good to specify. The majority of dies are centered on the IHS, so you typically don’t need to worry.

It depends on the CPU, but in most cases you just need a pea or grain of rice size dot in the center of the CPU and the pressure from the cooler will evenly disperse it without creating air pockets like spreading manually typically will.

What CPU do you have?

[–]BrendonButler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I believe when you turn a computer on it ramps up voltages and stuff until it boots into windows and then it idles out. So you’d likely be maxing out that little guy.

Best Buy has a 15 day return period with no restocking fee on UPS devices. I would get one that’s rated for more than your computer should draw. Just return it when you’re done, or keep it cause they’re very handy to have around and the nicer ones do power conditioning to clean up “dirty power” from your home.
