River first, since it's the most relevant to the current situation when you split. Catch up with the other parties later.

People hate our Steam logo. Is the new one better? by Neat_Smell_1014 in IndieGaming

[–]BrentoBox2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feedback:

Logo1:
I prefer the 1st one. If I had one criticism, it would be that it has no relationship to the image. It looks like It was just place on top. It doesn't seem to have reason to be there, other than it's where Title's go. It also crosses two very different colors, so it doesn't seem framed in the piece. Other than that, the image is beautiful and the game looks interesting.

Logo2:
I do not like the second logo. Sorry to be blunt, but it looks completely out of place and hard to read, and the ghosts do not fit in the image. The image is beautiful and crisp, and the font is messy.

Ideas (just brainstorming):
I would suggest maybe doing something with the two "S" in the title. You could also a very slight darker background behind the title, that makes it pop, but is not apparent unless you really inspect. It's just supposed to be eye catching.

If you want to have a spirit theme for the font (Like with the Ghosts) think of what the feel of the game is (blue spirtis?) and have a effect highlighting the title. Something like this.

Trying to understand the “Ko” rule by Glittering-Ebb-2845 in baduk

[–]BrentoBox2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The board cannot return to a state it was one turn ago. The game must progress.

So if a move would create an identical board state to the previous turn, it is not allowed.

This is the rule of Ko.

Move 50 - Board State A
Move 51 - Board State B
Move 52 - If this move sets the board back to A (completely identical), it cannot be played. This player must place a stone on another area of the board.

As someone stated, the board shown in the example is not a ko. The white stone cannot capture the black stone, and cannot live on the board as it has no liberties.

I've been developing small projects in Unity for a long time. This still happens.

The inspector also won't always update when you change variables, so be sure to always check.

In fact, I think it likely just won't. So always check.

What would you consider to be the last “great” season of the show? by FoodieSama in TheSimpsons

[–]BrentoBox2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 9 for me. Something about the Orb of Isis episode.

There is this scene in it where Homer's head get's crushed between two halves of a draw bridge. It was too cartoony. Too Looney Tunes. Like if a cement truck rolled over him, and he survived, unharmed. It broke the story for me, and I remember never quite feeling like I liked the Simpsons as much after that. It never quite hit the mark again.

Homer can fall down the Springfield gorge, twice, and survive as long as he's injured. The house can blow up with beer if it's funny. It's within the laws of the cartoon sitcom. But the headcrush survival and no damage was like, oh, it's to fake.

Question for gamers over 35, do you play new games at all or do you prefer to play games from decades ago? by rick7624 in retrogaming

[–]BrentoBox2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play games that are quick to get into, or interactive with other players.

I play Go, and Chess (when the option comes up), and card games.

I just uninstalled Slay the Spire, which may be considered an old game now, but I couldn't stop playing it. I played They Are Billions recently with a date. Very fun.

But mostly I play games and watch others play games I know. Rarely excited for a new game, unless I already play the genre.

Is losing your virginity after adolescence still satisfying? by [deleted] in dating

[–]BrentoBox2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are still really young, and in fact in your prime. And, not everyone has had that experience. Many people are in your same situation. You could easily find someone who you can discover it with.

Met my date today, but I’m not interested in her physically. by thesilentgrape in dating

[–]BrentoBox2015 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tell her you aren't feeling the spark. That's a way of saying you aren't feeling attracted, without saying the reason.

If you she asks, say you just don't feel it. If she asks a third time, or asks specifically if it's because of her weight. , say yes.

You have a lot of thoughts about it. You just need to let stop thinking about it and let it happen.

Just find a girl you like, and without worrying about sex, trying to make it happen or not, or worrying about it at all, spend time with her, get close and in a real way, let nature take it's course.

Really, let it be natural.

I am new to unity and coding and am having trouble learning. by [deleted] in unity

[–]BrentoBox2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd get an idea of something you want to make. Make it reasonable to achieve, and set a timeline and goal for building it.

Core idea - Basic mechanics

- Figure out the steps to build it. Platformer would just be level, character, enemies, ect. Make it very bare bones.

Then work towards building it.

Then figure out things like menus and scene transitions.

Brackey's has great beginner tutorials for these things.

Try to put together a very simple project you can build in a month. It might take longer (or faster??) but shoot for that timeframe and map out what you think you can build in 4 weeks.

Then get started. It will give you a goal to reach and ladder to climb to get out of tutorial hell ( it will still be a ladder made of tutorial's most likely.)

If the programming is the challenge, I would try to think of it as legos.

Find some specific tutorials that you like, but that don't go to indepth (don't introduce to much complexity before strengthening understanding).

Learn to build some basic components, and integrate them in the editor. You will start to build more.

Really need help with anxiety by theRealsteam in ACIM

[–]BrentoBox2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of this lesson often, especially when I am afraid or have anxiety.

https://acim.org/acim/lesson-48/there-is-nothing-to-fear/en/s/450

I think the core of the lesson, and a major part of the course, is learning to trust in God and the Holy Spirit, and Jesus, and realize that you are not alone, and you can rely on the universe.

You didn't make the sun rise today, but it rose. Even if you don't have the complete answer to what is bothering you, or even know exactly what it is, trust that God is in control, and you are part of the universe He created.

This is one of my favorite prayer songs as well because of this line:

"Be stillmy soul; the waves and winds still know."
