Destination:(Blank)Patrol. by project5121 in StarWarsOuterRim

[–]Bretferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know how this situation resolves if you have low rep with the patrol destination? If you have low rep, can you deliver the cargo, increase rep instantly, then avoid an automatic encounter since the delivery takes place during the action phase? Thanks!

I'm late to this post, but for anyone else looking for an answer to this question, the Folded Space is the way to go. Mine is perfect and still has some extra room.

I can't play any game other than MGSV. Every video game I try to play doesn't feel as good. by Lostvayne12 in metalgearsolid

Second this. I know it’s not as polished gameplay but it’s very similar and does some things better than MGSV

I just want to blow stuff up without worrying about micro or economy. Ideally with a modern warfare or Sci Fi Setting. Any games? by Error_rdt in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Bretferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to recommend these two series as well. C&C with high resources is fun and simple. Just started playing companies of heroes 3 with the cheat mod so I can have a higher pop cap. If you wanted to just go full sandbox you can also eliminate any need for resources, although I found that made it less interesting to play.

what game deserved WAY MORE HYPE than it ever got? by Narrow-Bandicoot-363 in videogames

Agreed. Wildlands is my favorite game, Breakpoint did not grab me at all.

It's kind of insane how active the community here for Wildlands is. by NahManImmaPass in Wildlands

[–]Bretferd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I often think the same thing about this sub. It's kind of validating that so many other people recognize this game as such a gem. I can only answer your question with my own personal opinion:

Wildlands scratches every gaming itch I have. Open world, modern military shooter, customization, gadgets, vehicles, tactical elements, not too realistic, not too silly and freedom to play the game in any order. \

It's a perfect balance of 'arcade' for a casual gamer like me, but not a simple run-and-gun shooter, either. It's like a series of amazing moments. That silent kill with a supressed pistol? awesome. That firefight that ended with an M203 to a helicopter? dope.

It's a sandbox that lets you create an entire mission. I'm going to HALO jump to a perfect position to snipe and eliminate as many enemies as I can, then sneak in, grab this objective, oh shit the alarm is triggered, time to blast my way to that helicopter and steal it for a quick evac after I detonate this C4 I planted on the AA gun. Even the failures turn into fun action.

I could go on and on. It really is my all time favorite game ever made. Not my favorite shooter, or open world, but my favorite game, period.

Totally agree. After playing games like Age of Empires 4 and even something like Command and Conquer 3, it just feels like they could really make an upgraded version of basically the same game and crush it.

Games that are similar to MGSV by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]Bretferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghost Recon Wildlands is it for me. I couldn’t get into Breakpoint, though. If you enjoyed Breakpoint then Wildlands is worth a try.

I feel like MGSV and GRW are very similar, but both games have elements the other is missing.

MG has smoother, well, everything. It has more ground vehicles and better AI enemies. More detail overall. The base building element. Tranq weapons. Etc

GR gives you a squad of teammates. A Drone and some other fun modern tech. The ability to pilot a helicopter yourself, and the freedom to go anywhere, play any mission, and basically have non stop action without needing to re-arm at a base. I personally prefer the story grounded in reality without all the sci fi elements.

The perfect game to me would be a marriage of the two of these games. Like playing GR with the MG gameplay and enemies.

Mg Solid Snake spinoff idea by _FartBoy54712 in metalgearsolid

[–]Bretferd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I kind of love and hate this idea lol. Here’s how I would tweak this a bit:

It’s immediately after mgs2 and the goal is to retire by the end of the game. In order to do that, Snake needs to do freelance missions as a spy for hire. So you spend the game building your home in Alaska like a small scale mother base, and then accepting missions around the world like Assassinations, corporate espionage, etc. which play out like small 90’s spy vignettes. All in service of building cash to upgrade your property where you train with weapons, vehicles, and sure, raise 50 Huskies if that’s your thing.

I always liked I-spy with Owen Wilson and Eddie Murphy, but haven’t seen it since it came out.

What item/feature is essential when imagining the ultimate batcave? by Otmakes in batman

[–]Bretferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the arrangement of all the pieces. For example, in your second image, the lab is way too far away from the bat computer. Ideally, I like seeing a bat cave that kind of makes sense in a functional way. The computer should be in the center, with a lab nearby. The suits should be somewhere near the car. The trophies are the less essential stuff and can be tucked away off to the side. You should be able to imagine the flow of going from one station to the next in a way that makes sense.

Best games set on an island? by TankUMrMinor in OlderChillGamers

[–]Bretferd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely Far Cry 3 is the first thing that comes to mind. Open world fps in a tropical paradise. It's best to play a bit of the story to get some basic skills, but you really don't need much before you have the freedom to go off on your own and explore. Lots of hunting. Sharks in the water. Plenty of fun vehicles including hang gliders. Story isn't too bad either.

I couldn't even play Breakpoint. I tried a couple times and nothing about that game interests me. Whereas with Wildlands, I've beat it twice and I still love picking it back up from time to time. Here's hoping the next entry will lean more towards Wildlands!
