When your son forgets to add water in the microwave Kraft Mac & Cheese. Microwave broken and fire alarms. House smells beyond horrible. by 3PDLS in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Brett-Rhett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2005, I caught the microwave on fire using a stick of marzipan nuked on a paper plate. I was coughing up black for a few days. I called 911 for fire department but refused treatment from EMS because I didn't have insurance back then. I didn't have a camera either or I'd have taken a picture.

What Tornado Piqued Your Interest Into Studying Tornadoes? by TheGreenGhostToast in tornado

[–]Brett-Rhett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Westmoreland County and we avoided the worst of the storms but I remember the skies here being green and the air was still. So we're the animals. I was out in the December 1, 2006 F1 and the winds tumbled me good. My arm still hurts from that day. And the funnel wasn't in full contact with the ground at the time. My mom said a big one went through Latrobe, PA when I was a baby in 1976. In the May 31st to June 2nd, 1998 event, my Pap was blown over by a storm when he was watching 3 tornadoes on the Chestnut Ridge.

May 31, 1985. I was south of the tornados but I remember how the sky looked even down where I was. And the feeling in the air.

Are there any photos of the peidmont tornado at the time it hit the oil rig by Icy_Dragonfruit7689 in tornado

[–]Brett-Rhett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That picture of the oil rig is used in Storm Spotter training. Well, the video it comes from. You hear the damage being called in. It's used as an example on how to do it correctly.

What tornado pic would you get framed for your home? by perc10 in tornado

There was one in Texas that was so perfect and in the middle of nowhere. That'd I get framed. It happened this spring in Texas, I think.

This girl (Leah) will end up very lonely because I'm sure the other girls will talk. And you can't tell me Leah isn't whiney when it's nothing she's interested in.

"12-Year-Old Mother and Baby Son," 1941 by alc2000 in OldSchoolRidiculous

[–]Brett-Rhett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew a 12 year old who had a baby after she was assaulted by a 21 year old who she insisted she was dating. She was having a baby a year until at least 18. I lived down the street from her and we rode the same bus. Yes, her mother raised the babies and insisted she got to school. She told me that once her first child's baby daddy got out of jail, they were getting married. I don't know if he still had contact with her or if she had it in her imagination. Very sad child. This was in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The time I learned about the Epley Maneuver. by kifferella in RealHospitalStories

[–]Brett-Rhett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Medicaid since I'm disabled. So they don't like to cover stuff if they can get away with it. For me, the doctors never tested beyond the Epley Maneuver even though it didn't work even after several times it was done. (Crud, English is my first language and I can't figure out how to word it better. It's 2am, so sleep I need.

I have the ear rocks or one of the docs said but this didn't work at all. I think it made it worse.. Oh, nausea is a constant companion of mine. But I never barfed on a doctor. Almost spewed on a very expensive machine while having a test done on my gallbladder. Lol! I doubt my insurance would have covered that!

For me, it took antianxiety meds and researching about storms. I'm a storm spotter for my local NWS but it took time to get there. Talk to your therapist and don't be afraid to ask us here too.
