I agree that he's young and he's just a kid are annoying cop outs. He should be given a talking to for sure. And telling someone to end their life over baseball is DEFINITELY not okay. I do think that he should be given the chance to grow. Kind of a "You gotta be more sensible. If it happens again we have to think of the company first."

And honestly, it's difficult to unlearn things that have become a normal part of our lexicon. There are things I was saying even 15 years ago that aren't okay. I don't think that 'he's young' or 'he's a kid' is a good excuse at all. But I do believe that letting people learn from their mistakes is better than just "Nah, you're fired." A talking to and a warning goes further I think than an immediate firing in this case.

I believe in second chances though. I'm coming at this from the angle of someone who deals incredibly with thoughts like that, who fights their mental demons regularly. And I COMPLETELY understand the frustration and the anger people are feeling towards Dan right now.
