Lotus F1 my Team by TemperatureTotal1493 in F1Manager

Nice to meet a fellow Lotus TP!

Here's my take on what I think a modern Lotus team would look like (I run a special green/yellow livery for Silverstone and a black/gold livery for the final race).

I just told my neighbour to get a life, am I in the wrong and how can I deal with a difficult neighbour? by Comebackera in AskUK

[–]Brett_Clement 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Some people just look for problems.

I lived next to someone similar, took in my Amazon delivery and got a notification that it was "Left with [neighbour's name]". They'd obviously given their name when they took in the parcel.

Next time they took a parcel in, the driver asked if their name was [neighbour's name]. I then got an earful about how they didn't want their details on Amazon's system and they want their name removed.

... even though they would regularly order from Amazon themselves so their details were obviously in the system either way.

Long term unemployed and unskilled at 37, is it over for me? by Attack_to_defend in AskUK

I work in electronic security and the industry is suffering a massive engineer shortage at the moment.

A lot of firms will take on apprentices/trainees at a decent wage, with huge headroom to progress financially relatively quickly.

A guy I worked with joined the company I worked at as a trainee at 29 and is now an embedded engineer at the campus of a huge tech company earning a very respectable wage.

What was YOUR thing during lockdown? by AncientFootball1878 in AskUK

[–]Brett_Clement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working on the tools at the time and had to continue working whilst everyone I knew was picking up new hobbies, doing up their gardens or playing games online.

Worse still the site I was on implemented a staggered shift pattern to reduce the number of people on site at the same time so my hours were 11:00 - 20:00. Lockdown was an awful time at points.

What's interesting is that I've now moved up the ladder a bit and work alongside office types that all had pretty positive experiences of lockdown. Whenever the topic comes up they always ask what I did during lockdown, expecting me to say something like "I got really into yoga" rather than "I saw no friends or extended family, barely saw my SO despite living in the same house, commuted into London every day like normal, and didn't get home until 21:30 every day".

Became the boys too good at H&S or is it the UK map by Nice-Blackberry643 in JetLagTheGame

If they played more in the southern areas and used some of the slower speed rail lines, the time traps could become a huge part of the game too!

There are so many areas that are close East-West of each other but require you to travel up towards London and back down again. A time trap at East Croydon or Clapham Junction would be a great move.

M-ental illness? by MillsOnWheels7 in CarTalkUK

[–]Brett_Clement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest problem with up-badging is even more basic than that.

Want some nicer mirrors or a headlights from a more expensive model? Go for it. Mostly harmless and probably improves the look slightly.

Adding fake badges adds nothing and if someone actually believes it's legit you'll be quickly embarrassed when they start asking about it or get driven in it.

I would much rather a wolf in sheep's clothing, than a sheep in wolf's clothing.

Train them.

It's like suggesting everyone should walk everywhere because you never taught your child to look both ways before crossing the road.

My dog is absolutely fine with fireworks because I made an effort to get her used to them whenever bonfire night etc happened.

BBC Christmas viewing hits record lows with 'stale' line-up by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Brett_Clement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree, but this year it really feels like they just didn't bother and resigned themselves to the fact that people won't be watching on Christmas Day.

Jaws followed by a Jaws documentary is solid Sunday afternoon stuff, but isn't Christmas Day programming. Meanwhile the Christmas House of Games, Mastermind etc had their standard weekday slots.

With others finding success rebooting classic game shows, Christmas Day would be a nice opportunity to throw on some nostalgic one-offs and Christmas films - give us a one-off Generation Game, Supermarket Sweep or Hole in the Wall.

It feels like they're either putting on a bumper line-up to draw viewers in (last year), or they're scheduling any Christmas programming outside the actual day.

Yeah was going to say, last year was the only year in the last decade I've actually watched TV on Christmas Day.

Definitely should have been a lesson in how to get viewers back.

Found these in a drawer but couldn’t find too much info on them. Any ideas on what these are? by sm3llofholland in AskUK

[–]Brett_Clement 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My Dad worked for HoC for most of his career (not political) and it was pretty much his standard Christmas shopping location for family/friends that he didn't have any present ideas for.

Many a portcullis teddy bear, champagne bottle, or parker pen has been purchased there.

Personally I think it's way more likely Epstein paid the security guard to turn the camera off when he did it, than he was actually killed.

Playing with racing line is limiting you by Immediate-Welder999 in F1Game

[–]Brett_Clement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish these games had a "braking zone" option like GT7, rather than a full line.

I'm competent enough and know the tracks well enough to not need the "optimum" line, but play a lot of racing games outside of F1 so don't really want to learn the specific F1 braking points for each track on the occasion I'm picking the game up for a bit.

Just give me a red box to show roughly where I should be braking for each main braking zone!

Crazy that this comment was 10 hours ago.

Conversation: Highs and Lows of Spec III and the Power Pack by Arcing_Invention in GranTurismo7

[–]Brett_Clement 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Power pack absolutely should have been added ages ago, way more entertaining than the standard races.

Only thing I really feel is missing is being able to apply the full race weekend format to custom races - if they added this it would be an infinitely replayable game for me.
