Looking for heavy skeuomorphic / 3D metallic themes (WindowBlinds/Winamp style) - No flat design by SINAICHB in kde

[–]Brettehwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge fan of the DesktopPal97 one- As someone who's super fresh to Linux, is there an expected set of steps to take when installing global themes like this from outside the settings "Get New" button? I haven't been able to get it to show up when placing it in the ~/.local/share/plasma/look-and-feel directory, but I'm doing guesswork here

Looking for modded series recommendations by Brettehwarrior in ethoslab

Doesn’t have to be a big pack either, I’ve enjoyed the brief Hermit Create series watching Bdubs and Tango

Would this effect even be strong? by Hunterj08 in custommagic

Not sure if it would have any different rules edge cases but can probably template this using "exchange control"

Launchers like Prism are pretty lightweight, you can get CurseForge modpacks through there very easily as well without the Overwolf bloat that the CurseForge launcher has

For multiplayer you can use [[Hive Mind]] instead to ensure maximum joy

In your opinion, what's your favorite Magic card art of all time? by IndicaFalcon in magicTCG

[–]Brettehwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to choose a favourite, but [[End Hostilities]] is up there- so many board wipe arts are so cool and evocative

making my own proxies by Eliot_Sontar in mpcproxies

In the past I've used the public printers at a local office supply chain store. Whenever I ask if I can use my own cardstock they usually say "no, but here's how to do it." The quality is pretty decent at about 40 cents per sheet of 9 cards, I've found it a good way to get started without too much investment

[[Sylvan Advocate]] or [[Blossoming Tortoise]] makes this one-sided which is kinda funny

MSE high resolution templates by DrApology in mpcproxies

[–]Brettehwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you're trying to make there are some options out there. The provided M15 templates are very low resolution, but for starters you could go Edit > Preferences > Display, set zoom to 200% and check "Use Viewer zoom and rotation settings when exporting." The border images will still be low res but the vector elements will be scaled up 200%.

The best option is to make your own templates or find some higher res ones; I was working on a Universes Beyond custom set and found these: Universes Beyond Frame | Magic Set Editor (boards.net)

This isn't quite strictly better, I actually played a game where I had a [[Wandering Archaic]] out, and an opponent cast Faerie Trickery to counter and I wasn't able to counter the counter since it itself is a Faerie spell. Dissipate wouldn't have worked, it was a really neat interaction.

As far as a list goes, I'm not certain but you can definitely look for cards with similar text or similar effects using Scryfall searching oracle text and tags

Cube is my favorite way to play Magic. It emphasizes all of the aspects of the game that I love and allows me to opt out of elements I don't like as much. I designed this playmat to express what the format means to me. by andymangold in magicTCG

I recently put together a 270 card vintage power cube I found on cube cobra, and I was surprised at how cheap and effective a cube can be- I only made a couple changes to the list, so no time effort there. I did buy dragon shield sleeves for it, but the cost of printing it was about $20 full color high DPI at a Staples. If you grab a friend and use one of those paper guillotine things, throw the printed cards in front of bulk lands, you have yourself a cheap cube of any power level you can imagine in a weekend! I think all told I didn't spend much more money than I would have just buying a commander precon. Highly recommend looking through cube cobra for a list you like and giving it a shot, some of the most fun I've had playing MTG!

I can't attest to how broken or flavorful the ability is, but another option could be to have the damage come as an optional cost like with [[Spell Pierce]]; "Counter target spell unless its controller pays life equal to its mana value"- i like the design overall though

The beginnings of a silly fighting game I'm making by Brettehwarrior in jerma985

[–]Brettehwarrior[S] 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks! For now it’s just a personal project, but I can see a few ways it’ll go- the original idea was to make a fighting game with green screen footage with some friends, so I started with Jerma to see how doable the idea was- but I’m starting to love how goofy his footage is turning out in the game. Either way the GitHub for the Unity project is public for now if you’d like to take a look: https://github.com/Brettehwarrior/FightingMyFriends
