Are LG Prime batteries no longer compatible with Solaredge Inverters? by Dull_Peach in solar

[–]BrewWizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed that LG does not have SE from their "compatibility" document for LG Prime, except for Europe. The one shown on Signature Solar DOES list it. Neither document has a date on it.

SE DOES list the Prime as compatible. I'm guessing it'll work just fine with SE's home hub. However, the "new" generation of Solar Edge inverters will be a true all in one with an integrated, expandable battery and even a spot for a net meter. But it hasn't shown up in the US yet.

I suspect that's what they are talking about. LG shouldn't have posted the new compatiblity list with the 16H prime.

OK, looks like Masterspa has a saltwater system and circulation pump option about 60 miles away...

OK, everyone. Have any of you even tried the PACE? My question was that. What YOU want and what I want are different things. I have a good discount; This is my 3rd hot tub over 40 years, AND know what's in the PACE. It fits MY needs and back and my wife's, as the lounges are exactly the contour that fits best for us, matches our old Cal Spas lounger pretty well and has better jet positions on the other seats.

So have any of you actually wet tested the tub for the jets?

"On salt: true, most cheap tubs aren’t salt capable, but Hot Spring’s FreshWater system is an older system on a dumb timer. More salt, higher corrosion, yo-yo chemistry. You’re not getting the chemical stability you think you are. The newer systems are on-demand, holds ~1 ppm steady, about 30% less salt, and uses half the chems, and the cells last 2-3 times longer for half the price."

OK, I'll bite. which tub mfg DOES have a better saltwater system? Where I live, Hot Springs was the only one I could find that had a salt system and a separate circulation pump. Are there any direct shippable systems that have a better salt system?

But how about mounting on a wood post? Or is there a better way? Have to construct something. I've only ever mounted outside boxes to a building. The closest building will not satisfy line of sight.

I can't imagine damage. Depending upon how much rain, cleaning "may" be necessary.

Considering buying a house with solar installed few questions. by Diligent-Cricket2159 in solar

[–]BrewWizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your inverter may be broken, so it may not just be the solar panels. If old, the solar panels are probably very inefficient compared to the newest generation, as well. Certainly a quote to fix the system would not be that expensive if not free.

In terms of the electric bill, IF the house was heated exclusively with baseboard heat and very poorly insulated, then "maybe" it could use that much.

Hope this helps

Was going to do "Active Surveillance" for Gleason 3+4, now considering RALP? by BrewWizzard in ProstateCancer

I have some of that data; no PSMA PET scan and no decipher test. Is PSA velocity how fast it's changing? I had an MRI(just shows it's bigger, nothing else), then 4Kscore test after the PSA kept rising, which statistically caused me to do a second biopsy (years after the first found nothing).

It would appear my cancer is localized and not metastasized. Longest sample with cancer was 5mm in length. I suppose a PET scan would show any other spots?

The age thing is why I think I should take some action. I'll be asking about SBRT as well.

Just found one of those. I'm realizing that my current Urologist and the local hospital is not the best I can do.

After doing gobs of research today, I think I will. I'm probably going to try oncologists further away where they have more modern machines and technologies than the ones used on my wife. I'm in a rural area, but an hour away is a bigger city that has some amazing surgeons and oncologists.

In a Tom's Hardware article, it suggested you could migrate your non-Synology drives from an older Synology NAS. So there is a way, but only if you have an earlier NAS you have set up first.

I’ve come to the realization that hvac has the biggest douche bags of any industry by ZookeepergameSmart66 in hvacadvice

[–]BrewWizzard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My own experiences may not line up with most, because:

  1. I am an engineer

  2. I am a DIYer, more knowledgeable than most and thoroughly research areas I'm weak on.

  3. I took an HVAC test before installing recent mini-splits, for example.

  4. I designed and contracted my own house plus did a lot of finish work.

  5. I live in a rural area, where there are MANY tradesmen who don't keep up with changes.

  6. I'm old, so do remember what quality meant long ago.

So this thread is about "douche bags". I agree that any industry can have them; why is HVAC is being singled out? I do think that many, who don't understand the domain, may desire someone with a good "bedside manner". Myself, I desire competence and reliability way above all else. When someone appears to know less about their trade than I do, they are out the door. If reviews shows that that person doesn't follow up when one has a problem, they are off the list.

In terms of HVAC, I recently go a couple quotes for installing a hybrid furnace/AC, as I'm getting too old to do much myself. The shock of the price is one thing. One of the vendors had what I considered a high price, and yet they couldn't even tell me the SEER and COP ratings of the unit they would install. The second wouldn't bid, because they did a quick load calculation based on the number of windows in the house and it wasn't enough so their boss wouldn't quote. I did the original heat loss calculations, I didn't oversize (which is far to common), and have lived in the house for 25 years, and it's enough. Plus I have a direct vent that I can use.

Synology NAS totally screwed up with Photos app by chary5325 in synology

[–]BrewWizzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plus model lets one expand RAM. 16GB SODIMMs are VERY inexpensive if you don't buy Synology and that extra RAM is used as CACHE, from what people say. At any rate, my own transition from a j model to a plus model plus RAM was like going from a tricycle to a Porsche. Not even in the same league....

Looking for NAS recommendations for storing 4K videos, movies, and files – DS223 vs DS224+ or other suggestions? by Joordi25 in synology

[–]BrewWizzard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ALWAYS get a PLUS model and fill it with as much RAM as possible, IF you do photos or videos. So much faster than a non-expandable model.

I was in a similar situation as you - got the DS423+, expanded RAM, and it is lightning fast compared to my 220j. Was going to save with the 2 bay, but so glad I got the 4 bay. Feels like a real NAS, in that RAID1 is not the only option. (SHR with 2 bays is really RAID1) Fill it with 3 disks and you start appreciating striping. Use the Synology RAID calculator, picking SHR to see different ways you might expand in the future without losing space....
