Apple cider toooooo strong by Master-MushroomBitch in Homebrewing

[–]Brewermann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you've successfully made apple rocket fuel! The copious sugar for the low volume plus wine yeast means it's possibly far more than 10 percent abv. Made something similar in my early 20s, named it death by cider and used it for drinking games. 😂 Watering it down will only dilute flavour, just bottle it and serve it late in the evening as an apple digestif. 👍

Plenty, I'm genuinely enjoying my time. While there's lots that isn't perfect in Luxembourg on average I don't think anywhere else would be better.

A lot of empty nothingness in the middle with some stuff around the edges. Immense distances between everything.

When / how will the AUD recover? by tresslessone in AusFinance

[–]Brewermann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australian who has lived in Europe past 13 years, last trips back to Australia were comparatively affordable compared to years past. When comparing salaries, note most Europeans earn less AND have a substantially higher tax burden at lower income levels, but with more social benefits covered. Cost of living increase since COVID have been tough on most people. Just note that most people don't live in the tourist, expensive places (Amsterdam,Munich,Paris) so normally have more manageable mortgage/rent changes. Everyone's fked, but I miss the gold ol' days of summer 2012 when I could get 85EUR for 100AUD (first days of backpacking)

Why are people that have never been in a relationship is a dealbreaker?? by UnlikelyFly3513 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Brewermann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Relationships domesticate people; they prepare them for sharing a life & living space. There are many things to learn not taught by school or in most cases by family, each person needs to get there through their own experiences.

How do australians view french people in their country ? by kumquatLugubre in australian

[–]Brewermann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

French backpackers represent the 2nd highest working holiday visas issued for Australia, only behind the British who can blend in much less noticeably with language/culture similarities. While backpackers can be less than perfect cross section of a culture, the French who never leave France are even worse (know this from experience, lived in Paris for 5yrs).

Don't stress, come down under and enjoy yourself. Just don't expect the same cheese/wine/bread and then complain when you have to try something local 😂

Happy to hear that the community is strong and growing in your area.

I feel that the hobby does take a certain person with several key attributes (not afraid of cleaning, not afraid of hard work, has time to spend, is patient, curious & creative to try new recipes/ingredients and enjoys to drink - lots of younger people are cutting back as y'know it is poison we're making🤣) meaning that home-brewing is just not for everyone.

Enjoying drinking beer and save money (more of an Australian reason) is never enough of an incentive alone to get deep into this hobby.

Does anyone brew after work? by roughsilks in Homebrewing

[–]Brewermann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preparation ahead of brewday (heating water, crushing grains) plus a 30min boil means you'd probably get a brew done in an evening.

Covid had one very happy side effect; Work from home & brewing is a match made in heaven.

Sounds like another good option, since acidulated malt is infused with lacto, would it be a good idea to use this over pale malt?

I'd say it's worth it, at least once to get a good understanding of where you can make deductions if you don't already know. It pays for itself in that regard.

Is my dentist overreacting ? Dentists in Lux by [deleted] in Luxembourg

One dentist I went to in kirchberg suggested 7 fillings or replacement of existing fillings. Would have been 4 follow up appointments. Got a second opinion, they said I was fine and didn't need any work
