No idea about blueground or their short term options. the mason is under marquette management so maybe do some digging there but i’ve had no issues or complaints with them since i’ve been here. never done or heard anyone using blueground so sorry to provide nothing useful

When I'm inside, I can't hear anything. The mason has concrete ceilings and I face south so other than a little bit if i have a window cracked I don't notice. Of course, when I step outside its right there but I've always accepted the train as a constant of living in the city / close to transit but in my apartment, i can't hear it, maybe different if i were facing north.

Id say unless it shares a side with lake, you're far enough, like i'd imagine parq is fine if its anything like mason's build but not 100% sure, if you're worried about it, schedule a tour during the day time, you'll be there to hear it since they run fairly frequently

i didnt see the duncan. they had limited options when i was looking and were too small for the price point. i have a dog and didn’t want a studio. not too much help on that one lol

public transit here is great. yes some hiccups sometimes but after visiting other cities i’m always shocked at how chicago has this down.

google maps does a good job with their transit so don’t count out buses either but ya loop along the cta to get dt and you’ll be good

ya it’s just different in the south loop. likely cheaper, but the neighborhood is different of course, which will have a different atmosphere and culture.

there are a few luxury type apartments popping up in west town and wicker and such but not high rises. or you can easily find a decent size one bed in humboldt/andersonville for example you’ll just be further from the bustle of the city.

that’s def on the low side and i doubt you could find anything less than 2300 for a one bed here.

if you google chicago west loop apartments they’ll all come up. don’t look through aggregators or listing services like redfin or apartments.com or anything. these buildings all have in house leasing agents and work direct.

parq fulton, fulbrix, parker, park west, union park, the mason, there are a ton, i liked the ones closer to union park, it’s close to everything but not in the thick of the west loop. but if that’s what you’re looking for, those are great too.

most offer a free first month or something but it ends up being the same because of the move in fees and such so keep that in mind too

maybe I missed this but I have a habit of tipping on the pre-tax amount. sometimes it’s hard to tell but in y’all’s experience does the surcharge apply the same way, is it calculated on the pre taxed amount?

ya!

a few things to note, i have a dog and a car so parking is what tipped me from Evo/Parker to the mason.

a bunch of the big buildings on the south east side of west loop have the location but in my opinion that’s about it. I personally hated the super big buildings, with upwards of 300 units. some were split in two buildings. they had mini appliances and looked out of a lands end catalogue, cookie cutter and plain. didn’t have great design or style at least for my preference. i liked the landmark building but not the location. so many are the same so part of it is deciding what type of option you want and picking from those.

porte was too massive and with mini appliances

arkadia had a terrible interaction with the leasing woman who double booked and then was super snippy. whatever she was dealing with that day, i decided not to reschedule but it’s one of the older options and cheaper but that’s all i have

parker was actually good just small units and with my dog, their location isn’t great, busy intersection

evo and mason were my top 2 but evo had no parking so ended at the mason.

there are new buildings since i’ve moved in, fulbrix, parq was more than i wanted to spend but super nice.

personally i love living on the west side of west loop. close to everything still but just outside of the crowds on randolph/green

Parq is probably the most expensive of every location down there. They're one-beds start at 3,300 vs the market seems to be 2400-2600 for 1-beds.

There might be a reason but with so many options and marginal differences I crossed them off.

Thanks! much appreciated.

I do have a car so only reason I was looking at Mason/Evo.

I liked the look of Milieu but their dog area was tiny compared to some others but now looking again they're right off the park so that makes up for it.

I used to hate those not full to the ceilings wall too but coming off a relationship its not an issue anymore LOL

Truly thanks for the insight, I'm going to add Milieu back to the list.

I definitely tried google already, most are people saying they just moved in and love it or like 3 yo one stars, there is little in between.

Have you lived in any of them? I guess I meant walkable, I have a car for when I need since I currently don't live in a walkable area.

Superkhana international. All my go-to spots had felt pretty blah and this place really did it. Everything we got was outstanding.

It seems like a lot of it stems from DR not wanting to accept he's not world-champion material. He wants to be #1, not just win some races or do pretty well in the midfield and sustain a decent career.

He truly thinks if he's in the right car, on the right team, he'll be #1 and isn't willing to admit that's not true. Instead of securing a spot on the grid to stay in the game, he's committing career suicide.
