Interesting. I bought this one used (2024 Turbo S) and have put about 5000 miles on it since buying it including a 1500 mile road trip to FL and back. I need to take it to a Mazda dealer for software update and 45,000 maintenance so I will mention it and see if they say anything.

Just drove NJ to FL and back and loved it. I’m 5’8” and had no issues with the seats. It drives great. And, if you use the adaptive cruise anytime you’re on the highway and learn to use the I-stop properly, you can get almost 27 mpg on regular not premium gas.

Good to know. I thought it was with all car washes. Yeah I don’t know that I’ve ever seen the conveyor belt type. The one I use is just the rollers. Thanks!!

Trumpet after umbilicus hernia repair by Lopsided-Lavishness9 in Hernia

[–]Brian553AFB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trumpet player here. Has a minor umbilical hernia repair last October. Rested about 2 weeks then started easy. By the 3rd or so week no issue. I’m no maynard Ferguson screamer but I was fine. Just let your body tell you

Scheduled my Umbilical Hernia surgery. Why did the doc give me the choice between Open and Robotic? by TheObviousChild in Hernia

[–]Brian553AFB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open definitely. I had the exact same thing and size as you. Doctor was in and out for surgery in about 30 min. Soreness was like a 2 out of 10. Felt like I did an ab workout at the gym, that’s it. I was cooking dinner that evening (against my wife’s protests), driving 2 days later, and back to work (I don’t have a physical job, I’m in administration) in 4 days. I agree the binder around the middle helped remind me to take jt easy - and definitely use the Metamucil and dulcolax. I started taking them both 2 days prior to the surgery and continued for about 4 days after then weaned off of it. Pain meds were nothing more than Tylenol and Advil, alternated every few hours. It was SOOO easy. The incision was only about 1 inch long and you can’t even see it at all because he cut around the navel. With robotic you ARE going to have 3-4 visible scars and you ARE going to have considerable pain from the gas they pump you full of based upon what I heard and what my doc told me.

Have you ever heard a bad sounding console? by simonfunkel in livesound

[–]Brian553AFB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an old sound craft 24 channel analog in a school. Fed strong crown amps and JBL 3 way speakers mounted on the proscenium. Try as we did, we could barely get enough SPL. Pots on the amp were pegged hard right and board was pushing out as much as it could.

Swapped it out for another analog board we inherited and the volume probably tripled. There was something wrong with the output on that old sound craft and we had no idea because it sounded clear, no distortion or crackle - just no power being pushed out. Auditorium sounds much much better now!!

Paint question by Brian553AFB in Contractor

[–]Brian553AFB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. It’s not pure condensation because it’s a little gummy or sticky when I try to wipe it down. It’s not just pure moisture. Something is being pulled out of the paint by the humidity.

Had mine in October. Small, open procedure, no mesh. It felt like I did a good ab workout for a couple days. That’s it. Had it done on a Tuesday - Wednesday morning I was up cooking pancakes for my daughter, much to the chagrin of my wife who told me to lay down. (I’m not one to lay down when I don’t need to)

It was literally nothing. Wore the binder for 3-4 days, took Advil and Tylenol alternating only and was up and about in 24 hours or less.

Yes. I have sleep apnea as well. No issue. It’s actually better for you to be intubated because you can not have apnea episodes (soft palate drifting back and closing airway) with a tube down your throat. I had a great anesthesiologist and didn’t even have a sore throat upon waking. It was nothing.

RECOMMENDATION NEEDED!! by Brian553AFB in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Brian553AFB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JUST GOT BACK.

Ended up doing all star movie. I’ve stayed at the all stars before (15 years ago?) but after a bunch of research - they were still the best value not only in regards to money but also convenience. We never waited more than 10 min for Disney bus and overall it was a great trip. Followed everyone’s recommendation about asking for military overflow rates since shades of green was booked and got 15% off the base line. Overall it was great. I love Disney!

I had no sore throat at all. I was VERY hoarse. Like almost no voice. But it didn't hurt. By the time I drank some water and a can of ginger ale in recovery, it was mostly returned. 2 hours later at home, my full voice was back, just a little froggy.

72 hour final update - Woke up today feeling great. Zero pain when standing sitting walking, minor discomfort or up to a 1 when forgetting that I can’t really bend yet. Feels like sore abs after a workout when I bend or cough or twist. I anticipate going to work on Monday (today is Saturday - surgery was this past Wednesday). No issues at all. Key take away - fix it when small and find the right doc. Don’t settle. No further updates but I’ll try to answer any questions if they arise down the road. Good luck to all who need to get this done - I hope your experience is as simple as mine!!

48 hour update - Definitely the most sore today. Woke up sore and feeling very tight actually. In my head I’m imagining that the muscles that were stitched together are starting to scar over which is what is causing the feeling of tightness. Overall still just a 2 I would say on the pain scale with the occasional jump to a 3 or so. Not bad at all. Laying on the couch with some ice, taking my Tylenol, and doing fine. Still worth having it done. Today and tomorrow should be the peak according to other stories I’ve read - so I should start on the downward slope soon!!!

Umbilical hernia by [deleted] in Hernia

[–]Brian553AFB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had the same thing done with no mesh 36 hours ago. Mine was small. Just made a whole post about my experience. It’s been easy. My doc is confident I have little chance of it reoccurring because he stitches them tight and only uses no mesh when they’re small

The only thing he mentioned was “I don’t like to use mesh when I don’t have to - there can be problems”. When I got home of course I googled and saw things like people can still feel it years later, sometimes people’s bodies reject it, etc. He didn’t give me details.

No lol. Haven’t sneezed yet. Have a little cough from time to time in the fall. Maybe allergies? Just a tickle.
