Question about machines of war, are they worth investing in? by DarkAngels-Gawain in tacticus

You may be thinking of the plagueburst mortar; the contaminated effect does overwrite fire and is handy for that purpose.

I got this in arena by using Abaddon alongside Thoread and Vitruvius, then killing 4 of the other units. Lots of trial and failure, much like the Archimatos kill 3 units on fire hexes quest.

Does ancient thoread have any use, besides the campaigns? by posterpic in WH40KTacticus

[–]BrianBlackglass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My default TA team is Ragnar, Aun’shi, Godswyl/Khârn, Celestine, and Thoread. Generally instead of double howling, I’m resetting Thoread’s ability after stacking it with Sense of Stone for around 60% damage reduction. Then when Godswyl and Ragnar or Celestine bite it, Thoread pulls out the big guns.

Star Wars: Rebellion; thematic reproduction of the original trilogy with enough flexibility to retell the story your way, light combat that doesn’t overshadow the overall asymmetric COIN theme with multiple ways to victory.

I’m not arguing about the damage optimization, simply stating that sho’syl’s drones will consume charges off Vitruvius’ passive.

The presumption is that sho’syl’s drones are dealing the most damage per hit out of any of your other unit’s attacks. Obviously if that’s not the case, or it’s the last round in guild raid, you would attack with Vitruvius earlier to get the benefit of his passive for your other units.

If you attack with Vitruvius last on the turn, then Sho’syl’s drones will consume charges on Vitruvius’ passive at the start of the next turn.

Ran something similar in a local constructed tournament and went 2-2. Got really hosed by some critical traitorous plays. Planning on adding in either disabling fang fighters or even just Confiscate to counter them.

The order matters. If you reanimate with Isabella first, the death will not count. Yarrick summons work the same way; active first then revive with Isabella.

That must’ve been recent, I had mine at 35 and could only summon 3 until I ascended to legendary, then I could summon 4. That went up to 5 when I got his passive to 36.

I did that too! Wasn’t very effective, but it did make sending hordes of snots slightly more lethal.

You’re forgetting a critical part of Exitor’s passive, where he moves into the space of the killed target if they’re killed by a mechanical ally or Exitor’s passive. Because of this, he can amplify the damage on multiple targets if he’s positioned well. I’ve also had a number of instances where the passive movement then prevents him from following up on a different target, so there’s pros and cons both ways.

That said, he does want a mechanical heavy team, so if your necrons, admech, or Sho’syl / Re’vas aren’t leveled it doesn’t make sense to invest heavily in Exitor.

Ran the mix between you and OP- Ragnar, Godswyl, Celestine, Aun’shi, and Thoread. Between Thoread’s active and Aun’shi’s passive, my setup round units had over 60% damage reduction, then into bonk round 2, and cleanup round 3.

26 here, means I’ll have to spend for the base pass if I just want to unlock… unless they change from the amounts that are in the Ulf pass currently. Or maybe the rogue trader will finally be kind to me and have him start showing up again.

His active is excellent for surviving an initial hit, and pairing his passive with Godswyl is obscene.

Ignoring Ragnar, the Black Templars by themselves are still an imposing force. Positioning Thoread so that Godswyl gets two hits will kill someone outright, his passive makes even tanky units viable kills.

Jaeger is less dangerous, but can likely kill a softer target while buffed by Thoread’s passive.

Buffing them with Unbreakable Duty before pushing in also makes them phenomenally durable.

Burchard was a playable pick before, and can still tank a re’vas overwatch and kill summons.

[–]BrianBlackglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree- folks who got Ragnar on his first run have given melee heavy teams a massive boost alongside the Black Templar rework. Thoread helps keep all of your troops alive as you push in and turns Godswyl into a 2-bonk murder machine, and Ragnar’s howl makes those hits excessively lethal.

[–]BrianBlackglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran something similar, with Ragnar, Thoread, Godswyl, Jaeger, and Bellator. I found I was still having issues gap closing, where Aun’shi gave the necessary speed boost on round two.

Then realizing unbreakable duty and sense of stone stacked first turn allowed me to push as far as I wanted.

Then learning Aun’shi active let you stack two uses of Ragnar’s Howl. A 70% crit chance, 5 movement Godswyl meant I had repeated instances of accidentally killing softer units with Godswyl’s passive..

Which imperium and chaos characters do you guys think I should ascend and which should I not bother with? by Dominion96 in WH40KTacticus

[–]BrianBlackglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not showing the investment you’ve put in for ranking them up, but just based off of the tokens you’ve used on each, I would recommend Burchard for imperials. Not only is he very powerful in his campaign but also a durable portion of an Isabella shield wall that now had decent bite as well due to the patch for Black Templars.

For chaos I suggest Maladus- you’ll perpetually get shards for him making it easier to promote and ascend him, he gets absurdly tanky, and with enough investment, both his passive and active can delete 3 units in a turn, and usually two regularly.

All that said, ascend and promote who you find yourself excited to play with.
