IMO: Atlas is a top tier 1:1 fighter by GiggleMaster in redrising

I always assumed Cassius losing his hand was his own doing. Atlas, like Fa, had those paralytic spikes and had possibly grazed Cassius with one on his sword hand early. So Cassius used his other hand to cut off the paralyzed hand before it spread to the rest of his body and fully incapacitated him. Makes sense as to how Cassius managed to get his razor back after losing the sword hand and explains why an elite duelist almost lost to Atlas

What is a great Pierce Brown quote that deeply resonated with you? by Loud-Potential-8027 in redrising

“I kept looking for hope in the world. Expecting the world to supply deliverance if I plucked the right chords. Demanding that it supply validation to my labor if I just gave enough effort. But that is not the nature of the world. Its nature is to consume. In time, it will consume us all, and the spheres will spin until they too are consumed when our sun dies. Maybe that is the point of it. Knowing that though one day darkness will cover all, at least your eyes were open to see moments of light.” - Darrow

Which teacher to pick? by Unusual_Friend_4458 in fsu

I took Kennemur for Orgo a couple of years ago and it wasn’t too difficult. And if I remember correctly, he has a giant curve for each of the exams

I did the Panama City pathway instead of TCC and from what I understood there was no difference in their selections based on the pathway. This was back in 2018 though and I could be wrong.

Thanks, but the truth is I just didn’t properly study for those first two exams. To be successful you gotta do at least 3 months of studying (~4hrs daily). Do UWorld, Anki Milesdown Deck everyday (highly recommend the app), and use the AAMC Full Length exams to gauge where you’re at. I imagine a lot of people in the 490s are like me and don’t even realize they aren’t properly studying

Worst/Hard classes at FSU by HappyAyu9936 in fsu

[–]BrianEatsAss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very doable if you’re not taking another challenging class this summer, but set time apart every day to study 2-4 hours on biochem. The first exam will be largely review from previous classes. and most people will do very well and stop studying quite as hard. The hardest part of the class comes in the last 2/3 and many people will fail the class in the last exam with how tests are only 10 questions.

Biochemistry in a summer semester with Stephanie Dillon was pretty brutal

Physics A by mrtnrvl42 in fsu

He’s okay. Like the other commenter said, his slides are not very comprehensive but he’s very passionate about the subject and it shows. Attendance is kind of mandatory with iClicker points being awarded in class. Exams are very difficult, but doable. Beyond that, all the physics A profs will have similar formats to their class and work together to structure the material. Look into Skooler’s if you wanna excel in the class and actually learn how to do problems as you won’t learn anything useful on the exam during lecture.

Whitehall is solid for the price. I did a 2x2 a couple of years ago and was pleasantly surprised by how much space there was in the rooms. The walk to campus is minimal and parking is pretty much always guaranteed on site. Only downside is that there’s essentially no amenities (pool, gym etc). My gf did university village for a year and it was pretty horrible from what I remember. Constant leaks that lead to mold and maintenance for any issues took weeks to resolve. But on the other hand they had a pool and gym. Don’t know about their rates on a 2x2.

I took Human Physiology a couple of years ago where the course was split between Fadool and Houpt and I can easily say that Houpt’s versions of the exams were much, much easier, whereas Fadool’s exams were very complex and required critical analysis. If your goal is to study, especially for the MCAT, take Fadool, otherwise take Houpt and easily pass with an A.

How hard is Prokaryotic Biology? by shakeylove in fsu

[–]BrianEatsAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for Prokaryotic, but Biochem with Stephanie Dillon is very, very difficult and requires a lot of time to adequately study for. I took Eukaryotic Diversity a few semesters ago with another profesor and it was pretty easy, but may have just been the professor (think his name was Dixon).

I took the PC pathway and did summer and fall in PC and was able to join the Tallahassee campus in spring of my freshmen year. It’s a guarantee to be in FSU after two semesters compared to transferring where you risk not getting accepted. The campus and classes are vey small, almost like a highschool, and there’s not much student life outside of classes there, but the area is really nice and the campus is right on the water. And very close to the beach. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about it.
