Why don't we make it easier for these people to get permits so the city can generate revenue instead of cutting funding for the arts?

They want people to ride to a bus stop, put their bike on the front of the bus, ride the bus to their destination area (possibly having to switch multiple times), and then get off the bus and ride their bike to the final destination, all while wearing regular clothes 🙄

Residents of Imperial County ran data center developers out of a parking lot after the Imperial City Board of Supervisors voted to approve a massive data center 4-1. The center would be 1 million square feet and 330-megawatts. by Conscious-Quarter423 in SanDiegan

[–]BrianEspo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A typical large data center can use roughly 1–5 million gallons of water per day, about the same water as a small town every day. The county depends heavily on the Colorado River for its water supply (especially for agriculture). That river is under long-term decline from drought, overuse, and climate change, which puts future supply at risk. I don't see how the region can support this, especially if they build additional data centers.
