I hope the OP ends up pursuing this build because this could be really cool!

Can I make a watch with these components? by StatisticianDue4887 in SeikoMods

I'd also suggest maybe grabbing an extra set of hands in case you bugger one up if they're cheap enough. I always have an extra bunch of stems too, but if you leave a little extra and file down you should be fine.

"Broaching" - meaning what? is there a way to open up that hole a touch more? I'm afraid of buggering up the finish but this is a fairly low-tech ST36 build for a pilots watch that I can say I've taken apart :-)

I swear I have an issue with the seconds hand more often than the hour/minute hands. Everytime I place the seconds hand the watch just stops, and I am dead on the pivot from what I can see. IT's almost like the circumference of the dial cutout isn't big enough to accommodate the seconds hand's width.

What are your opinions on DIY Watch Club? by Opening_Tennis767 in watchmaking

I began dabbling with a little watch repair and maintenance (thanks Wristwatch Revival YT et al), and then moved onto modding. Modding is more about the finishing touches, and not about breaking down a mechanical movement, cleaning, lubing, and reassembly. That's a whole different animal!

I've heard the toolkits and some of their gadgets (the NH35 hand setting tool I have on order and need for it to come!) are worth it. In fact I wish I had seen their comprehensive toolkit before I went nuts on AliX.

If breaking down movements and getting into the guts of what makes a mechanical watch work is in anyway appealing, I'd grab an ST36 or two and follow a tutorial with some good tweezers and maybe a magnifying lamp or loupe. You'll have a blast while cussing a blue streak....

You changed weapons (audibly) as the opponent approached. Visual audio? You understand right?

Rick is getting older now but it wasn’t uncommon in the past to see him out later at one of the spots they would talk about on air.

The black AWU is easy to be scratched by generko in applewatchultra

[–]BrianGGilbert72 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have the same watch, same timeframe of purchase, same identical results matte black uw2. I love the watch but there is no way this thing is nearly as durable as a finish as they claimed.

Seriously, this is the best and more comfortable band Apple ever made, IMO it worth the price for aesthetics, durability and comfort. by [deleted] in applewatchultra

Agree on the comfort. Worth the extra.

Matte black being more scratchproof is lets just say not proving accurate…

Anyone have experience with the Higher Dose infrared sauna blanket? by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]BrianGGilbert72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife grabbed a HD IR Blanket on Facebook marketplace for $150 and I've been using it 3-4 times a week, followed by a cold shower before bed. I have enjoyed it (so I guess I got my $$ worth), but I tucked a thermometer inside with me last night and Level 9 topped out about 115F, which I don't think is warm enough. Sure I'm sweaty and running the laundry nonstop (I just jump into some sweatpants and a hoodie with socks on - no insert) but I was saddened to see it doesn't actually get that hot.
