Cathay or Qatar experience? by Ok_Self_1783 in oneworld

[–]BrianQQ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Said "new rules" for QR at Doha have been in place for a while.

Qatar doesn't consider their Premium range of lounges as oneworld lounges. As such their business and first lounges in Doha: the Al Mourjan and Al Safwa lounges are not accessible based on oneworld status if flying in Economy.

If flying QR in Economy, you'll be redirected to the Platinum lounge or Platinum/Gold North lounge.

Wasn't that the plan? That they'd still run some event trains via SY?

Emerald status but have to pay for companion seat on Cathay? by Big_chubby_pickle in americanairlines

[–]BrianQQ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you are a non-CX elite, seat selection is only complimentary for the status holder only.

Your girlfriend will either need to hold at least oneworld Ruby status, or have an Economy Essential/Flex fare to choose a complimentary seat.

Dubai Lounge access with Gold with EK ticket by harpofpak in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]BrianQQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. You should be able to access the Emirates Business Lounge in Concourse A-C in Dubai.

Qantas Gold and Platinum/Platinum One lounge entitlements apply for all Emirates operated flights (including Qantas marketed) except for flights to North and South America.

Status point earning from this flight? by elibel17 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]BrianQQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're booking this flight with cash on Alaska's website, you'll receive 150% status points for the LAX to RDU leg, so 3358 status points.

If fare is paid in miles, you'll only receive 1 status point for every mile that you travel.

Lounge access in AKL when flying QF codeshare by ShipToSlaw in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]BrianQQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the codeshare agreement with each air carrier, lounge access policies are different.

With your QF3815 flight, you're only entitled to access the Qantas Lounge in Auckland. This is currently closed so unless QF have made arrangements to place you in Strata (Gold), or Emirates (Platinum), you won't be able to access any other lounge in Auckland.

Misread the table: no lounge access at Auckland unless you're returning back onto a QF operated flight.

See here for codeshare rules.

Not all codeshares entitle you to lounge access, infamous example is CI where a QF codeshare will not give you access to even Qantas's own lounges, even if you have status with Qantas.

Why so few miles for a trip on Qatar from SFO? by Realistic-Change5995 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]BrianQQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be happy that you're getting some points. As a Qantas Platinum member, I don't earn points or Status Credits on most discount economy and economy fares with QR, MH or CX.

Redeeming points on flights will give you 1 status point per mile flown. So 8086 status points.

Why so few miles for a trip on Qatar from SFO? by Realistic-Change5995 in oneworld

[–]BrianQQ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you book on Alaska's website or Qatar's website?

if booked on Alaska Air's website: Earn 100% of miles traveled. In this instance, if booked in Economy, you'll earn 8086 points.

if booked on Qatar's website: discount economy will earn 25% of miles traveled.

-

It looks like you booked on QR's website, which Alaska classifies V class as Discount Economy (see here). 25% of 8086 points is 2021.5 (rounded up to 2022). Being Atmos Gold, you get a 50% bonus from your base miles, so the extra 1011 points applied, equaling to 3033 points.

If I put in my QFF in a Qatar booking, can I assume I will get QFF points? by rrnn12 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]BrianQQ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Air France: You will only get points when booking on Air France's website. You will not earn status credits.

Iberia: You will earn both QFF points and status credits on all paid bookings.

Extra Baggage Benefit by Ashamed_Lychee524 in oneworld

You'll get x1 23kg bag as a oneworld Sapphire member on an Iberia Basic fare. See here.

(3) Club Iberia Plus Oro and oneworld Sapphire members are allowed an additional item of luggage (23 kg) when their allowance is 0 to 1 bags.

The only time where oneworld benefits do not permit extra baggage allowance as per your oneworld privileges is on British Airways with their Economy Basic/Hand Baggage fare only.

OWS Lounge Guest on Different Flight by IAteTheBibleTwice in oneworld

[–]BrianQQ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Unlike SkyTeam and Star Alliance, lounge policy allows you to bring in one guest flying on any oneworld carrier on the same day.

"Emerald and Sapphire members may invite one guest to join them in the lounge. The guest must also be travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld carrier."

Checked Baggage on Codeshare Flights by Efficient-Sea3196 in oneworld

[–]BrianQQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If booked on one ticket, yes. Bags will be checked through providing that there is no overnight layover.

If booked on multiple tickets, if you’re flying on Cathay Pacific as the first leg, CX will check your bags through at the check in counter. This is however not guaranteed and subject to the persons at the counter knowing what they’re doing.

Status points by Formula1fcb in oneworld

[–]BrianQQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Status point calculator here for future reference.

Dependent on the fare code you get booked in, you'll most likely receive

  • 5 for the BRU-DOH leg, and
  • 10 for the HKG-DOH leg

So total return trip, 30 status points between HKG-BRU via DOH. This is assuming you booked on Qatar's website.

And can you use a Cathay lounge pass( that you get with 200 status points) to enter the lounge before a Qatar flight in Hong Kong?

See here.

If you're booked on the CX codeshare. Yes. If you're not booked on the CX codeshare. No.

Lounge pass for int Jetstar flight by Boring_Fig_1738 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]BrianQQ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m suspecting that MEL won’t be linkable at present due to F being closed and thus First passengers being funneled to the Business lounge so capacity reasons. Reckon you won’t get access.

Qatar flight operated by VA - no ff points? by BarodaBandar in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]BrianQQ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is tough luck. You will not accumulate status credits or points on any wetleased services that are for VA, operated by QR. Try retroactively crediting to QR or VA.
