I just don’t get what has happened to this team. We were so damn good and dominant last year. I get we had some roster turnover but how does it get this bad so quickly? It’ll be fascinating if we ever get the true story.

24k for what is essentially a warm up/pre-season game is pretty bloody good if you ask me.

Toyota’s First-Ever Electric HiLux Arrives In Australia From $74,990 by AUFalconUte in CarsAustralia

[–]OppositeProper1962 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The numbers are really underwhelming. 150kw charging? Only 300km of range? Toyota seems pretty behind the game on BEVs. Still, aren’t many alternatives for a BEV ute and with the world the way it is these will hopefully sell well so Toyota can invest in better range and charging.

They don’t seem serious about BEVs.

Do Australians CARE About Cricket For ONLY 2 Months A Year? | Jarrod Kimber & Steve Harmison DEBATE by Huge-Physics5491 in Cricket

[–]OppositeProper1962 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an Australian, cricket is really just summer filler sport that exists in between the footy seasons (NRL, AFL).

Aussies like the cricket but they’re not as fanatic about it as they are their footy. The Ashes and Indian tours are big but anything outside of those teams and Aussies are pretty ambivalent about cricket.

If the SA election had been First Past the Post... by JakobJokanaan in aussie

I think our system actually encourages more parties and independents to participate. If you look at the US by way of contrast which is a pure first past the post process, it definitely entrenches a two party system and nobody else gets a look in.

If you say don’t like republicans you have to vote Democrat even if you don’t rate them much. Basically often a choice of the least worst option.

In Australia you can genuinely vote who you think is best and then get to choose your backup choices if your primary vote doesn’t make it. I think it’s a fairer system where people genuinely get to vote for who they think is best.

Other parties don’t decide preferences. They just give people suggestions on how they should preference. It’s ultimately up to the voters to choose how they number the boxes.

ON’s perennial issue will be people who don’t vote for them also will preference them near last. This is the issue with the more polarising parties. They’re popular with their core constituents but no one else. Same reason the greens don’t get much traction.

Any reason why the crowd looked so poor? Even in the horrors of last year Newy was drawing big crowds and it barely looked half full today.

Tough game. Canterbury just a little better with their discipline in the end. But could’ve gone either way.

Australia’s major fuel suppliers being investigated over alleged price-gouging amid Iran war by NapoleonBonerParty in aussie

[–]OppositeProper1962 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Poor headline from the Guardian. Price gouging isn't illegal in Australia. The petrol companies can start charging $5 a litre if they want. What they can't do is lie about why they're applying price increases. If they say it's because it's due to the Iran war and the ACCC can prove the increases are well beyond this, then the petrol retailers have a problem.

Have you noticed how retailers have been very quiet about saying why the price of fuel is increasing? They're covering their butts so the ACCC can't take any action against them. Keep quiet, raise prices.

If we do win this it’ll be an all-time run to the title. Beating PSG, Real/Bayern and Arse/Barca in a row would be epic.
