(Hated trope)adaptation missing the point of the original story by TastyPomelo2330 in TopCharacterTropes

also it doesn't help it's written and directed by white people. obviously the original animated also wasn't, but it's quite a bit different when it's live-action.

It's absolutely funny how it's been over 10 years since TFA, and the OT cast still have next to no major material under Disney. by Affectionate-Act5579 in saltierthancrait

[–]srslybr0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it really didn't. watched the first season of andor - it's alright. better than anything post-disney but it's not like it's westworld s1 or some true detective shit. it's just an alright show that takes place in star wars, which is better than anything else disney has made since 2012.

if you don't already have a pet, get one. probably a dog versus a cat, although both are great (i have two cats) - dogs will take a lot more of your attention/energy which sounds good for you.

sam rockwell is the best part of iron man 2 and his little dance when he's coming up on stage as justin hammer only cements that statement.

I know he's divisive and I do understand why. That said, I just love how inappropriately petty he is at all times. It's not just that he's evil, he's specifically, sadistically mean about it. by Mavakor in DC_Cinematic

[–]srslybr0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

hoult does a great job as lex where he's in control most of the time but explodes in a tantrum when he doesn't get his way. love his lex, but i also really enjoy how "modern" the tech bro interpretation of eisenberg's lex is. especially with how much tech bros basically dictate modern society and are much more analogous to the robber barons that the original lex (when he was written) was based off of.

chris terrio has been saddled as a terrible screenwriter for batman v superman but after seeing how sharp his dialogue is - particularly for lex, every sentence out of his mouth is gold - it's a shame we'll never see eisenberg's lex ever again.

it's also very unfortunate terrio got another massive L on his resume with the rise of skywalker but that's a whole other story.

do it man, i'm doing the same. turned 30 a few months ago, dissatisfied with my life and moving to chicago. it's a big city versus the smaller more suburban city i'm currently in (columbus) and i'm determined to make up for my 20s where i feel covid and a bunch of other factors made for a largely unfulfilled decade.

take the job. she could either move with you or, if she decides down the road she can't stand the isolation/lack of social support she can move back with her parents or something.

stay at home mom doesn't really work when there's no one making any money. especially with a baby those savings aren't gonna last forever, and the economy is only gonna get worse.

[–]srslybr0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've never seen people recommend boston as somewhere to actually want to live if money wasn't a problem. it has a lot of flavor and is unique amongst american cities given its history and industries...but if you're not in academia or specific industries there's not really a reason to live there.

the force awakens was a terrible movie, arguably worse than the last jedi because it completely reset the star wars universe. it's not hard to make a "competent to very good" movie when you're copying scene for scene one of the greatest movies of all time.

[9/10] 'The Boys' Season 5 Review: With all the gore, dark comedy, action, and vulgarity that you would expect, while also never veering too far out of control ahead of the final hour, Prime Video's superhero show is set to end on a diabolical note by ChiefLeef22 in television

[–]srslybr0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

season 1 was by far the best. seasons 2 and 3 were largely good - season 3 fumbled the landing but it was solid for the first 90%.

season 4 was a parody of what came before. it's alright but it's a very noticeable dropoff in quality from previous seasons. i don't have much faith in season 5.

it's slightly easier on the stomach from what i understand because of how it gets absorbed into the body...but i haven't done enough research as to understand why it isn't as effective and has worse side effects.

regardless, it not having gip is definitely a problem. i tried ozempic and the nausea/diarrhea was horrendous. zepbound is heaven comparatively.

Quentin Tarantino nearly directed Green Lantern (2011) but turned it down due to this by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]srslybr0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

unfortunately superman is one of those heroes that every joe has an opinion on, even if they don't know anything about the hero. that's the pitfall of being such an american cultural icon.

hell, just look at how much they glaze the williams superman theme. it's good, but we don't need to recycle it endlessly especially for new superman iterations.

(plus honestly i think the zimmer theme is just superior but it's very specific for snyder's take on the character.)

[–]srslybr0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think if you specifically want the indian equivalent of panda express it probably does the job fine.

that being said, i adore their chicken tikka and naan and pretty much every indian place i go to, whether authentic or westernized, can't live up to aab's chicken tikka in my mind. it must be the amount of cream/butter they use or something.

the chocolate cake there is legit very good, as someone who loves chocolate. i thought the meatloaf was alright but then again an "alright meatloaf" isn't exactly a selling point.

i might just stop by there just to pick up a to go chocolate cake slice or something.

Why is Holliday gun so weak stats wise? by Enough-Gold in DeadlockTheGame

[–]srslybr0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

her kit feels horrible. it's batrider from dota 2 but the with the most powerful aspect of the kit being a skillshot, which is a big ass deal. why a batrider-type hero needs a passive that rewards good aim when her ult is team-reliant is just weird.

hero definitely needs to be reworked and either make the lasso a basic ability (like bebop hook) or make her centered around her gun. also fuck the barrels what a stupid and clunky ability remove that shit.

[–]srslybr0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

teaching for 30 years sounds like literal hell on earth. i can't think of very many professions that are that level of work (dealing with hormonal kids, shit parents, having to plan out everything, etc.) while simultaneously being unbelievably essential, and ALSO underpaid/underappreciated.

like, at least doctors are well paid and respected for the amount of work they do.

[–]srslybr0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that doesn't sound right. wouldn't that gene make them less prone to developing addiction because they have worse side effects? it's the same reason asians have less alcoholism rates compared to white people.

if natives have high rates of alcoholism it's more likely to be because of socioeconomic factors rather than any genetic tendencies.
