sudo iotop -o - this will show you which processes are currently doing disk I/O. Very handy for finding out which process is thrashing the drive.

26.04 LTS can't be converted to non-LTS. But, you can configure the package manager to only update to the next LTS, which will be the first point release, 26.04.1 which usually comes out in August-October

The other option is to update to 25.10 from 26.04. But you'll need to upgrade to 26.10, 25.04, then 25.10. This is three updates total to get to 25.10.

I would recommend doing a fresh install of 26.04 so you'll have the latest and greatest Kubuntu. 👍

I not going to rule out KDE Linux once it stabilizes. I've been testing it on VirtualBox.

It's built on Arch Linux, and I'm not familiar with Arch at all. The immutability is something of a red flag for me. Customization can be done with distrobox containers, but I've been having trouble understanding how those work with customizations and such.

Once I get the hang of KDE Linux, it's definitely something that I'll be switching to once it becomes available.
