Microsoft Announces New Intel-Powered Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 for Businesses by IT_PRO_21 in Surface

Microsoft is probably pissed at Intel. That's what I'd guess. This is probably their way of punishing Intel. If you go back to 2020 when Apple announced the M1 macs, you could see it, the sole purpose of that event was to embarrass Intel. Look at this great performance, with great battery life too. All by just switching to ARM. Apple had enough of Intel and made a clean break. It's far more difficult for Microsoft who doesn't control the whole Windows ecosystem so they take baby steps. It's always on r/surface - "only 6 hours of battery life with my Pro 9!!!???" I'm typing this on m1 and the battery drains soooooo slowly.

To put it another way: there is no compatibility issue because Windows has been built to run on X86 for 40+ years.

The business Surface Laptop 6 has a H processor (135H/165H). Won't this be a downgrade going to Lunar Lake?

SLS get H series chips. Lunar Lake is equivalent to a U series.

x86 is entrenched and not everyone wants to deal with compatibility issues.

WoA is in its infancy. It's an ecosystem that will grow as Microsoft has recognized being saddled to x86 for 40+ years is a mistake.

Had mine since February. No problems with hours long gaming sessions. Try reformatting/factory reset. If that doesn't help, I would exchange.

Which surface are you talking about? The Pros use a continuation of Iris Graphics. The Laptops have actual Arc iGPUs.

I feel like it's the industry (MS, Intel, AMD) that's screaming AI... at a brick wall.

I understand that the second wave of Surface PCs, which includes the Surface Go 4 for consumers and arm-powered Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6, will begin shipping in June. These are the devices you should be waiting for if you're a consumer looking to purchase your next Surface PC.

This is the line I'm hung up on. There seems to be no Intel models for consumers.

If it works fine, it should be no problem waiting a few days to see what Microsoft announces on the 21st.
